Firstly, I need to explain why I had a revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Hobgood...

*Initial Rhinoplasty with a DIFFERENT doctor. NOT Dr. Hobgood*

Being young, stupid, and desperate to change the feature that most caused me insecurity I live close to the border and have had family member go into Mexico for plastic surgery. Long story short, the "doctor" completely hacked my nose. He left a hump still visible, completely dislocated my septum from the nasal spine and my septum protrudes completely into the my right nostril. My two nostrils are completely asymmetrical (which they weren't before) and my right nasal cavity completely collapses when I breathe in deeply. When I brought all these issues to the doctor's attention he blamed me and "lifestyle changes" in the destruction of my nose. I was extremely disturbed at this lack of remorse and accountability. I do not smoke or do drugs, so I do not understand what he meant by that.

I do take responsibility in this event as I did not do proper research. It would have been a matter of a 2 minute google search of this doctors name to realize this doctor is corrupt and unethical.

Five years later, and after scaring many people in my sleep due to snores and gasping for air, I went to see Dr. Hobgood and was hopeful for a solution. Dr. Hobgood is amazing he was so compassionate and did not shame me or blame me for my previous decision that resulted in a botched rhinoplasty. I immediately knew if I was going to do this again that HE would be the one to fix my nose.

Today was the day of my surgery, and just looking at my nose I KNOW that I will love the end results.

I will be posting updates and pictures.

I hope that this review serves to educate and hopefully encourage save someone from doing the same stupid choice that I did. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research and only allow a doctor who is qualified, skilled, and ethical to touch you.

4 Days Post Op

My recovery so far has been a breeze and extremely distinct from my previous rhinoplasty.
1) I have not been in pain, and only taken 2 pain pills at night because I was restless and thought it could help me sleep.
2) I have had no nausea other than right after surgery. I think this is due to the fact I have not taken the pain medication. I also have had no issues with going to the bathroom and no need for stool softeners.
3) I have taken arnica after surgery and my bruising is almost completely gone with some yellowness remaining.
4) When sleeping with my mouth open, my mouth gets dry, but I have not developed a sore throat like last time.

I believe that one of the major differences between my 1st and 2nd rhinoplasty experiences are the post op care instructions. For the first surgery, I had internal splints and packing which did not allow me to use saline sprays/nettie pot. I think this is what caused me extreme discomfort and stuffiness.
For my revision, with Dr Hobhood, he did not use packing. I have also been able to use my nettie pot. I feel like I can breathe slightly through my nose. This has made the recovery much more tolerable and I do not feel frustrated and overwhelmed by the congestion.

Overall, recovery has been much more smooth than I expected. Part of the reason why I waited so long for my revision is because I feared and dreaded the recovery. So far, everything has gone so well I feel silly for waiting so long.

Sounds very positive. When do you get your cast removed?

I finally got all my tape and removed off. I am happy with my nose and I think it looks great for just 2 weeks post op. I still have a lot of swelling in my nose tip, however I understand as there was a lot of work done there. I am truly amazed that the doctor would get my septum reattached to the nasal spine like nothing ever happened. When I get back into my doctors I will get the pictures of my nose underneath where you can see the collapse of the nasal valve. It is truly such a big difference.
I am excited for the swelling to go down and see the progress in my nose.
