Hoping to Change my Life! - Scottsdale, AZ

One day post op

$9,500
Well I had my surgery yesterday and I'll admit, I'm a lot more sore than I expected, but I do have a low pain tolerance. The financial aspect went better than expected; I worried for nothing! I only had $2030 out of pocket, and was able to finance it over the next 24 months, interest free, no credit check. Such a relief!
Bad side of this is I am taking care of 4 kids and recovering alone; husband didn't feel it was necessary to take any time off...not even for the surgery; a friend had to take me. Its a bummer for sure, but I'm doing this for me, so I will stay focused. Can't wait until I can start exercising! All liquids for a week is gonna be tough!!

Awesome! So glad you're ok- just take it easy! Sandwiches for the kids and NOTHING to eat for the hubby! LOL
LOL that made me laugh! (Ouch!) Thanks, I'm really anxious to get this going....and to eat!
How are you feeling? I hope your pain is less-it won't take too long! I'm going back to the full liquid diet tomorrow! I just don't do well on regular food-not losing! So, back to yogurt, jello, protein shakes!
I'm still hurting pretty bad today. This excess gas is a killer! No relief, not walking or sitting or lying down...and anything I drink makes it worse. How long was recovery for you? Thanks for checking in...it really does help!
For about a month. The gas didn't bother me but the heartburn or acid reflux did. Then it just went away. The first month is the hardest, but you can do it. Get rest, that helps. Mari, South Texas.
Yeah I feel like that's all I do any spare moment I have...sleep! I've been getting bad headaches too...I assume because I'm not getting any calories and not much water. (As I said, gas is awful, so there is no way I can get down 3 protein shakes a day) But I'm boosting my fluid intake today because I feel really crappy and I know that's why. How long ago was your surgery? Any regrets?
The only way I can get my water in is to drink it very cold or with lots of ice-even when the temp is cold outside. Don't worry, the bad times will pass soon enough. That first month, even my taste buds were off. I would eat something and nothing had any flavor. Good luck. Mari
No regrets!
Wow! Good for you! In reading your story, I see similarities to my story. My starting weight was 246# & my husband was not my biggest supporter. In fact, after I told him I was going to get the LapBand, he hardly talked to me for 2 weeks. He didn't bring me to surgery either...my daughter (16 at the time) brought me. He was skeptical & scared of everything he read about it; he was embarrassed & didn't want people to know. As he saw it was working & helping me lose weight, over time he became more & more supportive. I ultimately lost 100 pounds and he is my biggest supporter! You can do this! One week of liquids won't be as bad as it sounds. It will be worth it! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
Hi, sorry, I just saw this reply! I'm not doing so great, still not in the green zone...but I know this is all me. I quit exercising and make bad food choices. Only down 14 lbs...but I have another fill tomorrow, so hopefully that helps. Congrats on your weight loss! My husband still hates it...he says its lame that we can't go out to eat anymore, and I can't eat anything lol
I just had my lap band 6/4. How are the fills? That's got me real nervous. I went through True Results Scottsdale and really haven't dealt with many people there. Maria was super nice but I just met her for my pre-op testing. I'm doing well for my 4th day out just killer acid reflux :( but only when I bend over. I give you props for going ahead with it even without your husband's support, that took guts!
Hi! I went through the same clinic and they are great! Fills are super easy; no pain at all. You're getting through the rough part, which is post surgery. I was in a lot of pain for almost 2 weeks. I highly recommend you go to FB page called Lap band Support. Its a private/closed page, but I've received tons of great help from there. Best wishes!
I just started following your story as it is similar to mine and I only recently have started thinking about lap band. Has it been worth it so far? Any weight loss?
Honestly, I am quite disappointed in my weight loss so far. 14 lbs since March 5th (day of surgery). However, I will say it has been my own fault. I need to change my mindset about food. I think its a great tool for someone that is committed and changes their thinking about food. I do really good some days. Other days I snack all day. And I stopped exercising. I still recommend it. Good luck!
Can you tell me how you got your financing done without a credit check?
Sorry, I haven't been on here in a while. I was surprised too, but the clinic I go to has in house financing with no credit check. (True results) they made it super easy; paid nothing up front.
Any new updates on your well being??
Meh. I'm not losing much...18 lbs so far. Since March 5. I need to increase my exercise I guess

Approved! Ecstatic!

Well I got word that my insurance has approved my lap band procedure!! Eeeekkkk, I am thrilled to say the least! Surgery is scheduled for March 5th! Hopefully the financial part of it won't be an issue for me, but I'm thrilled to start my weight loss!

Getting closer!

Tomorrow is my final visit before everything is submitted to the insurance. I'm nervous that it won't be approved, but so excited at the same time. I'm so ready to do this! I've been saving money like crazy, due to the large out of pocket costs I will have to pay before surgery. Fingers crossed!

Good luck! I had my band last October-no pain, little soreness, but the diet is hard. You can do it! God bless and I pray that your insurance covers it!
I started the pre op diet today and I'm famished!! I imagine this is only the beginning! But well worth it I'm sure :)
Congratulations!
Thanks! :)
Good luck!
Thank you!!!
My doctor doesn't believe in the tortuous pre-op diet. It's tough enough after the surgery, but you won't be hungry after because of the band. Jello, broth and lots of water. I found if the water is ice cold, I can drink lots! If you start getting hungry after the first month, be sure to get your saline fill as soon as they allow it. Praying for you! Mari
