47 Years Old - Battling Fine Lines and Crepey Skin - Just Did Fractora

I have done 4 sessions of Fraxel Repair (non-ablative), 2 - 30% TCA peels (under eyes), 2 pro fractional Erbium YAG treatments a year apart (under eyes) and tried every topical thing on the market. Nothing has resolved the fine lines radiating out from the corners of my eyes. It's hard to say just yet as I am 5 days post Fractora but this is the first time I'm seeing improvement with the skin under my eyes! I'm hoping it's not residual swelling that is making the area so smooth. I don't think it is, I think it's the treatment.
The procedure wasn't unbearably painful but I wouldn't say it was comfortable either. The first 4 days my skin was red, mildly bruised, splotchy, and had abrasions everywhere. Scared me to death. I followed my after care instructions and by day 5, I started looking a lot better. The first 4 days, I just looked persistently awful. I wore makeup on day 5 at the end of the day and it was hard to tell there were still some rough spots. I looked normal.
At this point, I feel very positive. It's hard to be patient but I'm healing well and I think this is going to yield some phenomenal results. My practitioner is a very reputable doctor with a staff of experts so I do believe going to the right person with the right team and expertise makes a difference. It's not a time to look for bargains or someone who isn't experienced enough to get the settings exactly right to deliver a great result.
I see a lot of concerning reviews out here about Fractora. If I would have written my review 2 days earlier, I'd have been less positive. However, I think the best thing if you are considering it is to really know who is doing the procedure and ensure they know you and your body responds to treatments, pain, etc. Nothing ever comes without risk but all we can do is minimize it. The same way we put our seatbelt on everyday when we get behind the wheel of our car trusting thousands of people passing us on the road are following the rules, paying attention, and sober.

Did you notice more improvement?

Yes, I have noticed improvement in skin tone and texture, especially under my eyes. However, the abrasions on my forehead are not totally gone. They are greatly improved but I do expect them to fade completely with a bit more time. At this point, I would do the fracture again, however, I would raise the concerns about the aggressive response that I had and ensure the contact with my skin is really good to avoid superficial burns and/or abrasions.

I'm not seeing them anywhere.

Yes. I was prescribed Luxamend to help heal the skin faster and now it's perfectly normal. No damage.

Can the abrasions be covered with makeup? How long did you need to be “ out of commission” so to speak? Looking forward to seeing more photos.

At the end of day 5, the abrasions could be covered by makeup. I was in hiding for about a week. Mine were worse than what I think is typically observed after treatments. I've gotten mixed responses. Some say it's operator error (poor contact of the device head and areas of my skin) but Inmode told me some people have an aggressive response like was seen with me. Mine was done by a newer person using the device. I think someone with years of experience would yield a better result but in the end, I'm happy. It's just scary to think there could be scarring but so far, everything continues to improve and I don't anticipate any scars but I also think it will be a good 3 months for everything to go away. During that time, the collagen continues to grow and final results come with time as well.

would love to see before pics! Do you feel this is better for fine lines thank botox? e
December 21, 2017
Botox has helped with fine lines that come from facial movement (such as smiling) but not fine lines or crepey skin in areas where it's not caused by the muscle movement. Not sure if this helps. The botox is great but it solves a different issue.

Hi there!
Thank you so much for putting up a review on your experience with Fractora. Since I am trying to decide between Fractora and Fraxel to treat the lines under my eyes, and it looks like you had both treatments, I am wondering a couple of things. First, if you were happy with your ultimate results of Fractora? Also, which treatment would you start with Fractora or Fraxel, since you've had both (which do you think was most effective in getting rid of those pesky lines!?!). Mine would be Fraxel Repair, which is the aggressive one, but Dr. wouldn't go too deep. Which treatment was worse recovery wise (how long before you could cover w/makeup?), since you mentioned your strong reaction to Fractora. I have very sensitive skin, esp. under my eye (it reacts to lots of products!) and a bit of roseasea, and live in a very hot area. One reason I'm leaning toward Fractora is that I heard it has less risk of hypopigmentation, and sun sensitivity afterward. Sorry for so many questions! Thanks so much for any input you could give!
