Had Scar Revision Surgery ~4 Years After the Breast Reduction Surgery.
Had Scar Revision Surgery 2 Years After the Breast Reduction Surgery.
Finally beginning to feel happy with my breast reduction (but had to go under scar revision surgery).
Timeline
Jan/2018 - I had a breast reduction surgery but was left with very visible, stretched, and hypertrophic scars.
2020 - Found a new doctor and had some sessions of corticosteroid injection in the scars (under the breast) and they got a bit better.
Nov/2021 - Had the scar revision surgery with the new doctor and the scars got much better. I had a bit of necrosis on the left breast but once we treated it correctly, it got much better.
Aug/2022 - Now it’s been 4 years breast reduction post-op and 9 months scar revision post-op. Still wearing the silicon pads and the silicon creams.
My main concerns are:
1. The scars are not hypertrophic as they were in the first surgery, but they still look very dark. Will they get lighter? If so, in approximately how many months? My dermatologist suggested I did some sessions of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to get them lighter. Is that a good suggestion? Will it help to get the scars less dark or is there any other treatment I could do?
2. The spot where I had the necrosis is a bit stiff, and darker and larger than the other parts of the scar. Is there anything I could do to make it smaller, softer, and lighter?
3. I didn’t have the scar revision surgery in the areolae. However, I feel the skin didn’t settle very nicely (especially on the left breast). There are a few pink spots that go beyond the areolae and are stuck around them. Is there any way to make the skin more even in those spots? My surgeon suggested I talked to a tattoo artist so that they could paint the circles around the areolae to make them more outlined and shaped. Is that a good suggestion?
Thank you very much for your help in advance!
