How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Pock Mark Removal from Right Temple
Backstory:
Hi everyone. I'm writing this review for anyone who has been in a similar situation to me. 7 years ago I had a massive cystic acne breakout that left me with a deep crater in my right temple. It's small but deep. The fat layer of my skin was damaged. Over the past 7 years, I've recreationally researched lasers, fillers, microneedling, and any other treatments that can fix acne scars. After all my research I concluded that nothing can really restore fat loss in your face, so I opted for the boldest move: excision of the scar completely. This would leave me with a small linear scar, but my skin would be smooth and even again, which is what matters the most to me.
How I chose my doctor:
I spoke to two plastic surgeons. The first tried to sell me on Bellafill to fill the scar. I told him I had researched the history of Bellafill and that I knew all about the Artefill lawsuit. I told him that permanent filler is never safe. He was surprised by my research and the confidence with which I spoke. He backed down immediately and agreed to excise the scar. That said I lost confidence in him and decided not to book him for the procedure.
From there I researched the best plastic surgeons in NYC, and found a doctor who specializes in reconstructive surgery. For now, I'll keep his name anonymous, but if I like the way the scar heals, I'll drop the name here! His team was confident. His office was amazing. He agreed that filler wouldn't be the right treatment for this type of scar, and said I made the right choice in avoiding it. He understood why I'd want the scar excised. He didn't make me doubt my choice. I felt empowered and booked him for the job.
Below please find two photos- a before picture with the scar, and an after picture from the procedure. I'll post an update here after my stitches are removed in 1 week.
Thanks!
