Closing of Monroe Piercing

WORTH IT$750
I have had a Monroe piercing for 6 years and came to a decision recently that it was time to retire my piercing. I didn't want live with the permanent hole that was left above my lip, so I went ahead and researched for cosmetic surgeons in my area who had scar revision in their practice. I found one doctor with really good reviews and close to my home. They were a bit pricey- given the yelp reviews - but its surgery on your face, nothing to skimp on if you want good work done, right? Also, this being Las Vegas high prices are to be expected. If you're reading this for research on your own scar revision - hopefully you live in a more humble area ;)
Anyway, my procedure will take place Sept 24th (2018) I am nervous and excited. Per my consultation, I am told that it will take no longer than an hour and most of this time I will spend waiting for the numbing to kick in, just local anesthesia, so I will be awake, will feel stinging from needle and then some pressure during procedure if anything. Procedure will consist of the taking out of scar tissue track (imagine a very little, straight, macaroni noodle shaped tunnel that allows for Monroe piercing to exist. That tract will be cut out and then a stitch will be placed on the surface of my skin (above lip area) and also another stitch inside (in mouth surface) this will will allow for a complete closure. I will be prescribed pain med (Valium I think) and maybe antibiotics as preventative measures against infection.

I am hoping to do this as a documentary of my experience, bare with me I will update as things progress. Photos and updates to come

So glad I took a few days off work for this.

So, the surgery was quick and nearly painless. But the swelling- wow. I am using ice on my surgery sight for 3-4 days and applying neosporin on the stitches. All is well. Am wearing a allergy mask ( basic from local corner store) because it helps me to keep my hands off my face and my hair away from the loose stitch thread and yes, it's a bonus that people just think i must be sick so I get out of talking about "what is going on with my face." anyway my stitched come out in one week 10/02/2018. Can't wait to see results, in due time of course.

Again surgery went well, I just got done with my 1 week post-followup and doctor removed stitches, that caused some bleeding and a days worth of minimal swelling but today (day day after getting stitches out) the swelling went down and the bleeding stopped and the area is red but its healing nicely. I have been advised to keep putting neosporin on it for the next month and if I get that area wet to wash lightly only, no bath no swimming no facial mask. pretty standard and common sense. Also, expose area to as little sun as possible. I will update in a month when I go to my last follow-up.
