I Forgot What This Felt Like
WORTH IT$1,296
I honestly forgot what it felt like to just not hate my hair. That sounds dramatic but anyone whos been losing their hair for a while probably knows exactly what I mean. I was constantly looking at it, checking mirrors, fixing it, worrying about lighting and wondering if other people noticed it as much as I did. It was always somewhere in the back of my mind.
I went to Toronto Scalp Micropigmentation Studio after thinking about SMP for a long time. I was nervous mostly because I didnt want it to look fake or obvious. David explained everything before we started and we went over the hairline, the shape and what would actually look natural on me. Nothing felt rushed and I never felt pressured into doing more than I was comfortable with.
The first session was actually much easier than I expected. It took a little while to get used to seeing something there again because I had gotten so used to seeing my scalp, but it already made a difference. David told me not to judge the final result from that first session because SMP is built up gradually.
The second session was when I really started to understand what the finished result was going to look like. He added alot more density and detail and everything started blending together. By the last session it didnt look like I had something “done” to my head. It just looked like I had hair again.
Healing was also way easier than I had built it up to be in my head. My scalp was a little red right after the sessions and the impressions looked darker at first, but the redness settled down pretty quickly. Over the next several days everything softened and started looking more natural. I followed the aftercare David gave me and really didnt have any issues. There was some dryness during healing but nothing crazy and I was surprised at how normal my scalp felt through most of it.
The weirdest part now is realizing how much mental space my hair used to take up. I can go outside, be under bright lights, see myself in pictures and I dont immediately think about my hair anymore. I forgot what that felt like.
Its not even that I suddenly think about my hair in a positive way all day. I just dont think about it. And for me thats probably the best part of the whole thing.
