WORTH IT
55 year old, weight 215, BMI 35.5, on blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid medication with A1C of 7.0 going for sleeve on 12/28/15. I have high expectations and plan on following diet and exercise recommendations to a tee. Tired of being on medicine and do not want to add Metaformin or other diabetic med to daily pills. I hope to be off some of these pills within a few months. Nervous but excited at the same time. I know people who have had this surgery with great success but must continue to monitor what they put in their mouths. Hopefully seeing weight loss will make me follow through in the long haul

Good luck! With your positive attitude you will succeed. One day at a time. By this time next year you will be off most of your medications and on to a new life.

Thank you. That's the plan, I hope

Went for the endoscopic today and all went well. All pre surgical testing is done, just waiting for sleep study and I am sure it will tell me I have apnea because my snoring can wake the dead. Vitamin d and b12 low so started vitamins. I believe everyone in upstate NY has low D as we don't get that beautiful warm sunny all year. Still excited for surgery but anxious at the same time. I feel that people think I am crazy because I am having the surgery with a lower BMI and find myself explaining my medical conditions to justify surgery. Cannot wait for it to be December 30

How exciting! I've been reluctant to tell people about my surgery as well because I didn't want to have to justify it. I'm excited to hear about your journey!

Good luck for Dec 28th. It will go smoothly and Dec 30th will be with you before you know it!

How was the endoscopy? I have one scheduled due to the upper GI showing reflux issues. I'm bummed out about this!
December 25, 2015
Sorry that I didn't see this earlier..The endoscopy was no big deal. I thought I had heartburn but endoscopy came back good. Was up and out of hospital within 1 hour after waking up. Piece of cake..Don't sweat it.
December 26, 2015
Thank you! I'm fearful not of the procedure, but of the possibility that the results will put an end to going through with the surgery. Time will tell.
