Made Cellulite WORSE! - Sarasota, FL

ORIGINAL POST

This is my first review on here, but I want to...

This is my first review on here, but I want to thank everyone who takes time to make honest reviews of their experiences with these many different products/procedures.
My doctor got this machine right as I was about to have lipo done on my thighs. I'm pretty lean, and only had a couple places that were particularly stubborn. He claimed his machine could zap fat, and the heating would tighten my skin and reduce cellulite.

Considering the lipo was twice the cost and so much more invasive, I thought I should give this a try. First, I should tell anyone considering this that it can be uncomfortable. I would use numbing cream at home and wrap my legs in saran wrap and leave it on right up until the treatment. This in itself is not pleasant, then, the treatment is like a rubber band snap. It's not bad the whole time, but some areas are more sensitive than others. The goal is also to get the skin as hot as possible for the tightening affect.

My primary concern for treatment was the fat at my inner knees, up my inner thighs and saddle bags. The cellulite was something I've wanted to work on forever, and it was on the back of my upper thighs and starting to show on the side of my thigh. It wasn't really bad, but visible and I figured it will only get worse, so be proactive. Btw, at the time, I was 36, 5'9" and ~130lbs.

Each treatment was probably 1.5 hours and I had 8 treatments. My doc wanted to play with his new machine, and I believe was going above and beyond what a regular practitioner would do (we were kind of friends). Perhaps he did it wrong? At the time, I felt more was better, so fine. I wanted to blast that fat and heat my skin as hot as we could get it!

Ultimately, there was absolutely NO FAT LOSS and my cellulite got WORSE! It did seem there was some tightening of my skin on my thighs, however. I wondered if the tightening also tightened the connective tissue that causes cellulite, which made it worse? Regardless, I'm out $3k and TONS of time at doc appointments and still want to get lipo and now something to reduce even more cellulite! The only silver lining is that I never got the lipo, so I still have the fat for possible transplant into my breasts to
replace my implants with.

I don't have before/after photos. We did a before in the office, but I never went back for an after.

Thanks for sharing.  I know you said you don't have before/after photos but would you consider posting some recent pics of your thighs/knees so we can get an idea of the cellulite?  It is really helpful to anyone who is considering this treatment.

Hello Szangel,

Thank you for your comment.

Community Managers at RealSelf are here to help ensure the community is a safe, enjoyable and educational place for everyone to share their opinions and research their procedures.

Community members have the choice as to whether they wish to upload photos or not. However, photos do help other members to A) understand the concerns better and B) get a better idea of how a procedure is carried out/how the results look. Reviews with photos also tend to get more community interaction as people are naturally drawn to reviews where they can see the results in photo form.

Therefore we do suggest that people add photos, if they're comfortable doing so, in order for them to get more support from the community.

As mentioned, this is solely their decision.

If you have any further questions please do send me a PM by clicking on my profile photo, or email us.

I dont think that is the case AT ALL! How else are you supposed to see? Jeez....some people! If you feel so strongly, perhaps this is not a good forum for you to be involved in.

Hi thanks for posting. I just want to warn you about lipo. I'm very thin and athletic like you (5'6 126lbs) and I work out 5 days a week. I had liposuction done on my inner and outer thigh area because I wanted to have model stick legs lol. The results were nearly the same, no one can tell I had it done (since I was already thin like you) however I got a nice surprise after.... Lines that appear as cellulite. I came across your post because I was considering velashape to reduce the aftermath of lipo. By the way, I went to an excellent surgeon who is very experienced and board certified. The truth is sometimes when people have aggressive liposuction, or if they get liposuction when they have minimal fat, the waviness and rippling that results can be confused with cellulite. So be careful. You don't want to end up with more lines and more anxiety. Thanks for sharing your experience. I think I'm going to opt out of velashape.
