Hello everyone,
I decided to take in consideration breast reduction after years of uncertainty. I went to many doctors around my area, and they all seemed fantastic, as I searched for the very best. However, only one of them accepted insurance, but I did not think my insurance was going to cover my procedure anyway, so I did not care about the others not accepting it. However, THE INSURANCE DID APPROVE MY ROCEDURE!! and I do not know if I am more happy or scared, as this makes it real!! When I found out my insurance approved the procedure I felt like I was back to square 1. will I get what I want? Will I get the same care and attention as if I was going to do it self-paid? Not sure yet. I liked the work of the doctor who accepted my insurance, and he has positive reviews online. He also seemed very nice and knowledgeable during my brief consultation with him 3 weeks ago, so I decided to do my procedure with him. I have my pre-op appointment set up for February 20th, and I am already nervous even though it is a month from now. Can someone share their experience with their procedure done through insurance? Was it positive or negative? Any regrets? I am beyond happy and grateful that my insurance approved the procedure, but I have been reading both good and bad things about going through insurance, so I would like to get an opinion from people that went through it personally, or from doctors that have dealt with insurance before. Also, I am a 32 DD in one breast and a 32 DDD in the other breast; yes, they are asymmetrical. I hope this wont be a problem. I am 5 7, 146 pounds, and my insurance company requires my doctor to take out at least 400 g from each side. I do not think this is too unreasonable. My breast is really heavy (dense), as it is basically all breast tissue, since I am young and I was told that the younger you are, the more breast tissue you have, usually. I will post pictures later on. Thank you so much to whoever will read this and will take the time to comment and support me through this journey! I loved reading y'all breast reductions stories!! Thankful to have found this website.

I was the same size as you, 32DD and DDD on left side, 5' 7", 133lbs. It's been 2 1/2 years since my reduction/lift, and I couldn't be happier! Wish I had done if years ago. My breasts are symmetrical now, and stand up without a bra. This website helped me immensely as to what to expect from a pain and scar standpoint. I've looked at a lot of women's outcomes on here, some great, some not so. I would make sure your doctor will also being doing a lift (very important) with the reduction, or you won't be happy with the results. My doctor moved tissue from bottom of breast and moved to fill in the top. I'm was 52 or 53 at the time of surgery, and now my breasts look younger than the rest of me! Having the right doctor with the best skills is extremely important. It shouldn't matter how the operation is paid for whether thru insurance or directly. If it takes longer to get approved, it's worth the wait for the right doctor. Make sure you see plenty of HIS result photos as some doctors show photos that are generic to show the procedure, but not surgeries that they actually did.

hi,,, i had my surgery done jan 12, so i am officially 4 weeks and 5 days post op. it was thru medicare insurance and 400 minimum is the requirement from each breast. i WAS asymmetrical, and had 400 removed from the left, and 756 removed from the right from my very dense breasts. Still swollen, of course, but they appear to be pretty darn symmetrical, although larger one appears to be a tiny tad larger if you study them, although not at a glance. NO PROBLEMS WITH INSURANCE. if YOURE APPROVED, YOURE COVERED. period. No regrets ,girl. Go for it!!

My surgery was done over a year ago. Go for it girls. I had over 300 grams taken from each breast, plus some lippo to the underarms. best decision EVER. I paid nearly all myself. So happy with smaller breasts.

Hi everyone,
I am posting pictures of how my breast looks now so y’all can have a better idea as to why I do this. My boyfriend does not seem to understand why I am doing this, as he thinks I look fine the way I am. He does not understand how much emotional and physical struggle I have been going through because of this. There are times where I struggle getting up from my bed if I am sleeping without a bra and if I know I will be staying home because I know how uncomfortable I will be to walk around the house or even to study without wearing a bra, but at the same time I also do not feel like wearing a suffocating sport bra since the moment I get up. So I just lie there, and this is not very fun. I really hardly ever shared how uncomfortable my breast make me feel, and it’s a relieve to be able to do so here, and to read I am not the only one going through this! I’m so excited for the surgery, but also scared for everything that it entails, for everything that could go wrong, and for the recovery afterwards! I am doing my best to stay fit, eat healthy, and keep my grades up on school. I am trying to be the best version of myself so that I can have the right mindset for both the surgery and the recovery. I hope my doctor cares about this as much as I do, as I have a lot of faith in him. This could change my life tremendously in better, and I want to do everything that’s under my control to make this go right.

Hi I was looking through recent BR posts and found yours. I totally understand the difficulty you face with large breasts, especially when one is larger than the other.
I had a BR and BL on 11/1/2017. I was an Australian size 18 DDD, and just 5 feet tall. Sooooo worth it. I had grade 3 ptosis (breast sagging, eg the nipples were pointing downwards towards my tum).
Don't listen to anyone who wants to talk you out of it. It is your body, it's your decision. I am much older than you (57 last year), and I would have had this done much earlier, but being a caring mother I put the needs of my family members before me. I thought I was being selfish, but as my daughter said I have to start to take care of myself, again. I love my new breasts. I love my new breast. They stay up, The shape is lovely. The nipple "works". My posture is great. Bra size is 16 B.
Sure there was pain, plus I also had lippo under the arms, hurt like hell. but it went away. You have a nice trim waist so the reduction and lift will make you look super great, plus your posture will be better too. I sooo want to encourage you and anyone else thinking about having BR to trust their own instinct and just do it. If your BF loves you, he will understand. Sorry for the rant, I have so much support for anyone thinking about doing this. Please keep your grades up, and please take time to have a mammogram, so important. Wishing you all the best for the 20/2/18 consult. So much info to share, if your want?

thank you so much for this post. you made my day!! my moody swings from excitement to fear of not being strong enough to go though this process, but deep down I know I am and I want to do it. I would love to hear all the tips and tricks that your learn throughout your journey!! I’m sure they will be super super helpful. as of right now, I’m scared of infections. also, I did schedule a mammogram before my surgery, just to be sure that everything it’s how it’s supposed to be down there. my surgeon requires it for all its patients and I would have done it anyway before the surgery, just to be safe. thank you incredibly much again for your support, it’s been hard to convince my boyfriend that this was right for me, and I understand why he is scared for me, as it is still surgery. however, I am healthy and I’m hoping my surgeon got his degree and reputation for a reason. so praying things will go the right way!!

Do it, don't think twice about it or think what if. Yes, surgery has its risks, but your Doctor is a professional and I assume has done many BR before. Have you read his reviews? I 'll tell you, my PS Dr Taylor was highly credentialed for doing PS, but some of his reviews about his lack of a friendly bedside manner bothered some of his patients, not me, I am buying his expertise not his friendship. He was caring, honest and a professional. You will be fine, infection is not a big concern, wear a compression bra for as long as you can, even longer, as it really helps the swelling. It is normal to have lots of pain, but the pain is manageable by painkillers. When you can, massage your scars at least once a day with a silicone scar gel. I was glad to hear that you have already had a mammogram. Your boyfriend will get used to it, take care.

Just reading your story... I had a reduction done November 2017. I can't tell you how great I feel, I went from a 32i cup to an f cup... I know f cup still sounds big but they really are not at all, I don't even need to wear a bra. They look & feel great as of now I had no pain after or any other complications, I'm still waiting for my nipple sensation to come back. My left side has some but the right side not yet. Not too worried about that yet as its still quite early. Some people get it back sooner than others, some not at all.
I can honestly say it's the best thing I have done for myself.
I can honestly say it's the best thing I have done for myself.
I understand you when you say you are not happy with your breast, when I was your age, all I wanted was to get a breast reduction; later on my breast became to be my mayor power, and now at 45 and after having a child they needed some help. Don't forget to talk to your surgeon not only about a reduction but a breast lift. I wish you the best, I am sure your Doctor will make you look and feel even more beautiful. !!!
