12 days post op!

Hello there!
So i wanted to give an update on my forst week back to "life", as i spent the week of the para procedure at home, doing mostly just lots of resting and sleeping.
On monday i went back to work - i work with my parents so i just got to sit on the shotgun and arrive at the office. I was very self concious and afraid my ugly surgical bra would show so I wore a button up [RS bleep] with long sleeves despite the summer heat. Good thing I had plenty of rest, i was feeling refreshed and getting back to work was easy. But after work my mom decided to go to the mall to do some christmas shopping. All that walking and carrying got me definetely TIRED! Overall this week i really felt tired by the end of the day, because I got so used to just lay around on my butt all day LOL.
On wednesday I got to watch the premiere of the star wars movie, but it started at midnight so I went to bed almost 4 am, no good but so worth it! This was also the day I noticed the swelling (that at first was horrible, going up to my neck) had gone down significantly.
And then on thursday I had my first post op apointment (that was supposed to be on monday but i had to reschedule). Ps took a look on the girls, removed a couple of stiches (that did hurt a little) and said i could sleep on the side when i hit the 10 day mark, i could switch to a sports bra to sleep, and that i could resume driving on sunday.
Then in the evening i had a tattoo apointment i had booked prior to scheduling surgery, so been waiting for that for AGES. I have a big tigh piece that needs a lot of work before it's finished so i went to get some live from the needles - ps cleared me to do this, as I confirmed this information before scheduling surgery and also on the post op appointment. Still, not the best idea ever. After a full hour i made a pause and the pain started to build up. I managed to endure some 45 minutes more before giving in, because the pain was unbearable. I think that being on period has also made the pain levels go through the roof. Anyway, got home extremely worn down, with the tigh so sore and i just wanted to cry when i got to the shower, i wanted to vanish so bad! I think i got a mini fever that night too.
Got better tough, now the tattoo seems to be healing beautifully.
So all in all a good but very tiring week. Got also some photos from friday!
Stay well everyone
Mary

Hello from the other side

Hello ladies!
I am already 36 hours-ish post op.
Woke up much calmer than I had anticipated. My anxiety creeped only after saying goodbye to my sister and being wheeled in to surgery wing.
I watched the nurses, ps and anestheseologist (?) get everything ready and I was laughing all the time from nervousness. Then the doc made the iv thing on my hand, that did hurt. And the he said that he was going to give me something that would turn me a little drowsy. Suddenly the lights were blurry and I thought "ohhh". And the lights went out.
I woke up in the recovery room. I went from being fully awake for 30 seconds to a 15 minute nap several times. I think that was also where I got the bra. I dont remember being wheeled to the private room where my sister was waiting me. By noon my bf came to check on me, that revved me up. I went to bathroom, peed and everything was ok. I even wanted to go home before the scheduled time (4 pm) but they had to get my another shot of antibiotic and pain meds. When the nurse finished, she removed the iv on my hand which hurt. I qas cleared to go home so i decided to take another pee and pack everything after. But when I got up to go to the bathroom my blood pressure went LOW and I almost passed out. I spent several minutes on the bathroom catching mt breath and some time on the bed with my legs up. Only about an hour after scheduled check out I was wheeled to my car. I also got sick on the car and almost threw up just in front of my house.
When we arrived i collapsed to my bed and woke up only for dinner - my parents brought a soup wich was nice. Then i came back to my bed and slept until about 3am. I woke up and went to the bathroom but it was a little chilly, and I started shivering which was reaaaally painful. I wonder how to ladies who do this procedure in the middle of the winter deal with that. Anyway got back to my warm bed and slept well until 11 am after that.
Today the pain was a little higher, I guess the pain meds from the hospital wore off. But nothing unbearable, I just feel really sore like after a killer workout.
Ate well but no bowel movement yet. Gonna try a natural laxative tomorrow, because I'm getting pretty bloated.
Thats it for today guys!
Will keep you posted.
All the best
Mary

I dream of boobland

Hello lovelies!

I am tucked in bed. Ate a lot (of good nutritious food) in the dinner because i am freaking out about not eating and drinking for 12 hours LOL. Last week flew by. On monday as you can see by my previous post I was going bananas. So that evening I started taking passionfruit extract (passiflora incarnata) pills to aid sleep and prevent the stress from piling up and screwing my health. Oh god did it help! I went back to being a normal person. Still slacked off on diet and too drained out to hit the gym properly but at least I could concentrate on everything else. Last night and tonight I upped the dose a bit (2 and 3 pills respectively) but those are still prescribed doses and my PS told me that this sleep aid was totally ok.
I am also taking probiotics for a week or so, they do help a lot with bowel movements! And I did read that good gut bacteria help fight bad bacteria from potential infections.
I prepped my room on sunday and got some stuff out of the closet hangers, got a drawer empty to fill with comfy loose pieces, got all my meds, water bottle, a bell (for calling assistance since I sleep alone), and cellphone charger on my nightstand, got a table to have a bunch of books and dvds and snacks handy and last but not least lowered my personal care items from bathroom shelves too.
I dont feel ready but I know I never will, just gotta aim foward and endure whatever is coming on the short term.

Will try to post an update after surgery, but english is not my mother language so I apologize for any mispells in advance.

All the best
Mary
