Let me start of this review by saying that I have been researching BBLs for about 2 years. Whilst doing my research I decided that the Dominican Republic was the best place to get the results that I wanted. In the U.K. No one does this procedure and in Europe they didn't really give that hourglass shape that I was looking for. I chose Dr Hernandez because he had nothing but good reviews and none of his patients had any complications. This was very important for me as I was planning to travel alone and wouldn't have any one close by if anything were to happen.
The first thing that is great about the service is his assistant, Laura. She is absolutely lovely and she speaks excellent English. We were corresponding via email in the months leading up to my surgery. She provided me with all the information that I needed and answered all my questions. Once I paid my 500 dollar deposit everything was confirmed. I planned to stay in the DR for 10 days in total, this was more than enough time to recover.
I had my first consultation the morning after I arrived on the 19th of December. First of all the clinic is lovely and is located opposite the presidents mansion which was a nice touch. I had my blood tests, X-ray and other tests done. And I finally got to meet Dr Hernandez Pizzoglio. He was very welcoming with a professional manner. He asked me what I wanted to achieve and why I had chosen to come to him. He then took a look at my body and asked me exactly what I didn't like about it. He then explained to me the exact procedure and what to expect. He has many years of experience and he only does 2 procedures per day. I particularly liked this because it meant he could really give attention to me and my surgery wouldn't be rushed unlike other popular doctors in the DR.
After paying for the rest of procedure in cash ( Please note if you are coming from the UK exchange your pounds to dollars before you travel); he gave me a sleeping pill and an antibiotic to take that night. My instructions were not to eat after 7pm and then to take both pills.
That night back at the recovery house I had a light dinner just before 7pm then I took both pills. I was starting to feel nervous about the procedure but soon enough the sleeping pill kicked in and I was out like a light.
I was woken up the next morning by my phone alarm and the nurse in the recovery house at around 5am as I needed to be at the clinic for 5.30am. I could t eat that morning and I had already been instructed to have a shower the night before so I was taken straight to the clinic.
Everything happened very quickly, I wasn't waiting for very long at all. I was taken to the room that I would be staying in overnight after the surgery. Whilst waiting in there Dr Hernandez came in to draw on me
, take some before photos and check that I was ok. I would be get lipo on my back, waist, stomach and inner thighs. He told me that I would be in for surgery for 7am. Whilst in the room I was watching TV when a nurse came in to put in my IV, shortly after another nurse came in and gave me a blue pill.
All I remember after that is watching Dragons Den on the TV and then everything went blank.
When I awoke I was in the same bed lying on my back but I had my faja and anti embolism stockings on, I had a drain in me and a catheter. My surgery was done! I couldn't believe how smooth everything had gone. I wasn't in any pain, I was just feeling a little bit stiff. I would sleep and wake up for the rest of the day and till the next morning. The next day, The nurses came to take out my IV and catheter and to give me some pills. Dr Hernandez came to see me just before I left just to see how I was doing. I was told that I would need to come back in a couple days time to have my drain removed.
I was shocked my how good I was feeling after my surgery. I was able to walk about in the recovery house and I was able to sleep fine with the help of the medication and I was barely in any pain. The only thing that hurt was the drain, sometimes if I lay on my belly I could feel it against my skin and it was like a burning sensation. I was so happy when it was eventually taken out at my next appointment. My doctor checked all my incisions and asked me how I was recovering.
7 days post op and my body was already looking amazing, my waist was so small!! I had started having my lymphatic massages and they were helping to reduce the swelling significantly. And all my bruises were already gone.
I saw Dr Hernandez one more time the day before I was set to leave. Once again my incisions were cleaned and checked and he took some after photos of me. I thanked him for giving me the body that I always wanted.
As I'm writing this I'm about 3 weeks post op. I'm feeling great. I'm still a bit sore and there's still swelling but that's normal. I'm so happy with the decision I made and with the doctor I chose. I would recommend him to anyone who was travelling from another country for a BBL. He is safe and he will give you what you want without risking your life. The other doctors from CIPLA don't care about their patients wellbeing. The other girls in my recovery house who had gone to CIPLA had to either have blood transfusions or were in crippling pain. Please don't be fooled by their popularity. Do your own research thoroughly.
