Sorry it took so long to update. Wifi in Dom. Rep. was almost non existent. I'm 34 days post op today. Today is my first day back at work. I feel really good. I have to say my biggest complaint has to be this damn compression garment. I have a hate/hate relationship with it. But it's a necessary evil I suppose. So this is how my story goes.......I got to DR on March 25 in the afternoon. I didn't do much of anything that day because I had already eaten so I could not go for blood work until the following day. Thursday morning as was at the Clinica Corominas getting my blood work and I saw the cardiologist. Went back in the afternoon to get my results and see my PS. All was normal. Hemo was 13.3 which was great. From there I headed to the country side with the instructions to be at the clinic at 7:30 on Saturday. Saturday morning came, I got to the clinic, saw my PS and he marked me up. I was taken up to pre-op. Meet with my anesthesiologist. Said my goodbyes to my sister in law and friend (my mom had not gotten there yet). I was given a gown and hair cover and botties and a nurse placed a catheter on my hand. I was walked into the OR by my PS. He mentioned he was being assisted by a collegue who had not arrived yet. I laid down on the table and the compression socks were placed on my legs. I was then told to sit to get the epidural. Before administering the epidural, the anesthegiologist placed a syringe in my iv that made me dizzy and I said this to my PS. He said it was normal. That is all I remember. Later I just remember waking up in the recovery room with my mom holding my hand. I wasn't in any pain. I did throw up several times. But I was so happy to be alive, I didn't care. I was moved to a private room and my recollection is foggy for that first night. I remember having the compression socks and boots on. I remember the nurses coming and going all night long to check my temperature and blood pressure and providing me with more iv bags. Dr. Perez also visited me that night to make sure I was ok. My sister in law stayed the night with me. I had a catheter so I didn't need to get up and go to the bathroom. Sunday afternoon my PS came to see me and discharged me. He said I would feel dizzy getting up and sure enough I did. I passed out the first time and when I attempted to get up again I felt like I was going to faint again so I sat back down. The third time I went from the bed to a chair and let myself get used to sitting. I was discharged, given prescriptions which included heparin shots for 10 days. I was told I could shower Monday. I did with bottled water (remember I was in Dom. Rep.). For a couple of days everytime I got up, I felt like I was going to pass out but that got better. I had no need for pain medication. I took one one night because I hoped it would help me sleep, not because of pain. I didn't sleep for 6 days straight. It was hard to sleep on my back with pillows propping me up. I will post pictures soon.

I've had epidurals before with the birth of my children. So there is no issue with that. I was given iv sedation prior to the epidural so I don't remember anything after that. Good luck. I don't think you could be more nervous than I was, and I'm fine. You can do this.
