25 Years Old, Lost Weight, Needed a Little Extra Help! - Santa Rosa, CA

WORTH IT$3,998
I had smartlipo done three days ago on my upper and lower abdomen and flanks. I am 25 years old, 5'6" and 150 pounds. I am super active, I run about 30 miles a week, and eat fairly well. I have lost 40 pounds over the last year, and I was having trouble slimming my tummy area. I am sure there are many other women out there that have experienced the same thing!
I was not nervous about the procedure itself, but I was a little worried about spending that kind of money and what my results would be. Of course, I am only three days post-op, so my results are nothing like they will be 3-4 months from now. However, even with the swelling and fluid retention, I can still notice a pretty big difference! My stomach is much flatter, and my sides have more of a contour. I am the most swollen in my flank area and lower back, so I hope that subsides over the next 6-8 weeks.
The procedure itself was a little more painful than I thought it would be, though not unbearable. I did not take any medication beforehand, so that may be something that others consider. It took a while for me to become completely numb, but once I was, it was just a feeling of strong pressure. A word to the wise: If your doc offers you any type of pain or anxiety med, I would take it. It was pretty painful for me during the numbing process!
All in all, I would say so far is has certainly been worth it! The garment that the doc provided is uncomfortable and itchy, but I can switch to Spanx in two weeks. Though it may be a pain in the butt to wear the garment 24/7 for 14 days straight, it helps a LOT with the swelling! I would tell everyone thinking about the procedure to either buy 2 garments, or be ready for a little discomfort for the first two to three weeks.
The pain post-op was pretty bad the first day, but has subsided quite a bit now. My doc told me it would feel like I did 1,000 crunches, but really...I felt like I got hit by a truck the first day. I took some Tylenol and rested on the couch and by day three I am feeling OK. I can easily walk and stand for a long time, but bending is still very uncomfortable. I have been massaging the areas and scheduled a lymphatic massage next week. I have heard that a lymphatic massage can be helpful when trying to keep the swelling down.
I just wanted to paint an honest picture out there for those who may be thinking about getting Smartlipo done!

Hey so I am super active like you and the best thing to tell you is don't rush the results or you will be swollen! I have been back and forth having bouts of swelling, I can't sit still for long and I was in the gym the first week. After 6 weeks I was cleared to do my usual workouts and include my abs, but even yoga caused me to swell and brought back that numb feeling. I ditched my garment after a month, but I did order a new binder for at night. I feel fine, almost two months have passed. Just tried running again and the impact made it feel like my sides were burning so I stopped. I also have trouble with fluid retention so still working on max results but I can't stand not working out! Good luck with recovery you are way younger than me you should look and feel great!

Hang in there! Definitely keep us posted on your healing. Sounds like you understand that the results will take time and not to worry to much about them just yet- good for you, the mental side can be as hard or harder than the physical healing. We'd love to see some progress pics!
Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures before the procedure :(
However, I'll be back at the doc for a 2-week check-up, and then again at 10 weeks. She mentioned I could have copies of the pics at ten weeks if I wanted, so when the time arrives, I'll post those!
