I had smartlipo done three days ago on my upper and lower abdomen and flanks. I am 25 years old, 5'6" and 150 pounds. I am super active, I run about 30 miles a week, and eat fairly well. I have lost 40 pounds over the last year, and I was having trouble slimming my tummy area. I am sure there are many other women out there that have experienced the same thing!
I was not nervous about the procedure itself, but I was a little worried about spending that kind of money and what my results would be. Of course, I am only three days post-op, so my results are nothing like they will be 3-4 months from now. However, even with the swelling and fluid retention, I can still notice a pretty big difference! My stomach is much flatter, and my sides have more of a contour. I am the most swollen in my flank area and lower back, so I hope that subsides over the next 6-8 weeks.
The procedure itself was a little more painful than I thought it would be, though not unbearable. I did not take any medication beforehand, so that may be something that others consider. It took a while for me to become completely numb, but once I was, it was just a feeling of strong pressure. A word to the wise: If your doc offers you any type of pain or anxiety med, I would take it. It was pretty painful for me during the numbing process!
All in all, I would say so far is has certainly been worth it! The garment that the doc provided is uncomfortable and itchy, but I can switch to Spanx in two weeks. Though it may be a pain in the butt to wear the garment 24/7 for 14 days straight, it helps a LOT with the swelling! I would tell everyone thinking about the procedure to either buy 2 garments, or be ready for a little discomfort for the first two to three weeks.
The pain post-op was pretty bad the first day, but has subsided quite a bit now. My doc told me it would feel like I did 1,000 crunches, but really...I felt like I got hit by a truck the first day. I took some Tylenol and rested on the couch and by day three I am feeling OK. I can easily walk and stand for a long time, but bending is still very uncomfortable. I have been massaging the areas and scheduled a lymphatic massage next week. I have heard that a lymphatic massage can be helpful when trying to keep the swelling down.
I just wanted to paint an honest picture out there for those who may be thinking about getting Smartlipo done!

Provider Review
Dr. Hubert
Dr. Hubert was warm and welcoming, and answered all of the questions that I had. Her office is pretty small, but the staff is friendly, and they are very responsive. Very short wait times at the office, and nice area of town. Called me the night of the procedure to check on me, and provided her personal cell for any emergencies or questions I may have. Would recommend!
