Finally got to see the girls! Couldn't be happier!
Yesterday was two days post op and I went in to have my drains removed. I began to feel very light headed and woozy in the doctor's office and couldn't look when the nurse took my bra off to take the drains out. Husband said they looked great- like [RS bleep] star boobs!! Drains were a little uncomfortable coming out- she had me hum while she did it, which took all of a few seconds. Felt great to have those suckers out!
Today is day 3 and I was able to take a shower this morning and braved a peek at the new girls and I looooove them!! Cried many happy tears! Couldn't look too long because I kept getting emotional. I am so happy I did this. I was afraid that he left me flat chested but no- I still have a rack, just a much more manageable one with nipples pointing up instead of down! I am over the moon happy. Feeling a lot better pain wise today. Quit taking my norco, now I'm just on lodine. Taking it easy and also taking bromelain and arnica montana, vitamin c and probiotics to all help with healing. And drinking TONS of water!!
So, so happy I did this. Best decision EVER.

I made it!!! 1 day post op- my story
Woo hoo!! It's done and over with!! I always get nervous when a woman posts that she is having surgery and you don't hear anything for a couple of days...like, did they make it out ok?? Well good news, folks- I'm alive and well!
Yesterday my husband drove me to the hospital for check-in time of 6:15. My dad drove almost two hours to be with my kiddos- what a guy. I didn't sleep a wink and the night before I was cleaning like a [RS bleep]- felt like I was nesting for a baby to arrive. Kept waking up and finally got out of bed at 4 and double checked my bags to make sure I had everything (glass case, pillow for drive home, the new bra they were to put on me, button up shirt, chapstick.) Then I had to use the cleaning wipes they gave me and get my comfy clothes on and kiss my babies goodbye. Also took a few quick pics of my boobs before getting in the car- we were running late because my dad got stuck behind a garbage truck but we made it there at 6:18. Luckily they still took me in! HAHA!
On the way there I realized I completely forgot to brush my teeth. It sent me into a panic because I had read somewhere that it's important to brush your teeth very good the morning of surgery to cut down on bacteria. It sent me into panic mode that I hadn't done it, and I made sure to tell everyone I encountered at the hospital that I had forgotten (and they all looked at me like I was crazy.) Luckily I had snagged a free toothbrush from my brother's work last week and put it in my purse so I was able to use that- phew! When I went to pay ($10 co-pay!!!!) I was giddy and anxious and gave the lady a $20 and she handed me two $5's. A minute later I asked "aren't you going to give me my change?" and both she and my husband looked at me funny. It was embarrassing, but like I said- I was nervous and anxious and the whole tooth brushing thing sent me into a tizzy.
I also forgot to weigh myself before leaving the house. Oh, well.
They had me go back for the pre-op stuff- pregnancy test (NOT pregnant yahooo), get undressed, use cleaning wipes on my boobs AGAIN, blood pressure, start my port for my IV, yada yada yada...I had a bit of a grumpy unfriendly nurse at first and I thought oooh great this is not ok, but she just gave me my hospital socks, gown and urine cup and that was the last I saw of her, thank goodness. I then had a REALLY sweet nurse go over everything with me and said that Dr. Lin is the BEST and if she were to have my procedure done it would be by him. I thought that surely they all say that to every patient, but she went on to tell me that one of the nurses had a breast reduction by him two years ago and couldn't be happier!! She also told me that she always likes to ask where everyone lives so she knows what kind of commute back home they may have, and one day she got a woman who said she lived in Fresno, which is hours and HOURS away. The woman explained that Dr. Lin had done her previous surgery and that he was so good she had to follow him to Santa Rosa to do her second one. Hearing that made my day!
They sent my husband back to be with me, after he had to go back to the car because he took my backpack with my new bra and put it in there. My plastic surgeon said "Is this the man with the BRA??" It helped eased the tension! The man with the bra!! HA! Then Dr. Lin had me unrobe so he could do all his markings while I stood in front of him (so awkward) and he had a 4 year med student with him, a young female. I also pointed out a couple skin tags I had on my abdomen and the side of one of my boobs and he said he'd take care of it for me. Then I told him about the splinter I had in my foot and he said he'd get it out for me, too! My husband joked that I should have him take my tonsils out while he was at it!!!
Then the nice anesthesiologist named Fiona with a Scottish (or was it Irish??) accent came to take care of me and give me my first cocktail to relax me, then I kissed my husband and they wheeled me back into the surgery room and I remember seeing big blue lights and people and that was that! Next thing I know I was being woken up in recovery and it was all done and behind me.
I had a young male nurse in recovery, which otherwise would have been awkward but I was so doped up I didn't care. My husband said that I told the guy my next surgery i was getting a Brazillian butt lift- LMAO!
So, got there at 6:15 and left around 2:30 to come back home. The surgery was over 3 hours and he removed almost 5 pounds of tissue. He also said my tissue was very dense and therefore I would have very perky breasts! I am over the moon!!!
When I look down it looks like I don't have any breasts left, which is silly because they're there- he left me about a D cup! It's just so strange to look down and not see a giant mountain of boobs staring back up at me. I look like a whole new person in the mirror, too! Just cah-ray-zee!
Got some drains in, they come out tomorrow and I guess tomorrow is also the big reveal- EEE! Nervous and excited about that. Pretty sore today, especially my sternum and underneath my breasts whenever I stand up. I'm taking it easy, my husband is taking the very best care of me and my kids are being extra sweet.
I am so, so thankful I had this done!!!! YAHOOO!!!!! I feel like ME.

ONE MORE WEEK!!! But who's counting?? Oh yeah- ME!
My surgery is ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! Holy cow! How did we get here??
Decided to nix the recliner off of Craigslist when I started thinking of bedbugs or funky things coming from a foreign home. I'll make my couch and bed extra comfy with pillows and blankets. Got myself a cute button-up shirt to wear home from the surgery. Nurse said I should wear something comfy, perhaps a button-up dress...which was much like shopping for button-up pj's- they are all made for 90 year old grandmas and they look like moomoos! Love the soft shirt I found. Now I'm worried about concealing the drains I'll have when leaving for home from the surgery. But perhaps I'll be so doped up I won't care. Kind of like how I was nervous about going into labor and everyone seeing my vag. Then in the moment I could care less- I could have been spread eagle in front of a football stadium full of people- did not matter. Sigh...the thoughts that go through my head!
I've got two littles- a rambunctious 4 year old boy and a girl who is almost 8. I'm nervous how it will be the month of recovery with the two of them. We've been trying to talk about it with them, but you never know how it will be until you're in it. My daughter has been very sentimental about my breasts and how much she's going to miss them. It's really sweet. I just explain to her how they hurt my health and well being, and that I will be able to play harder with her and her brother after I'm done healing. "But mommy, they're so squishy and I just love them!!" So sweet she is.
My daughter will be a third grader the week after my surgery and I am bummed I won't be able to fully get back into the swing of things when she starts. I have no idea how I will be feeling a week after. My husband will be taking the first week off of work and will also take her first day of school off to take her that morning, and then I have friends who can take her to school if I am not feeling up to it. My son will start preschool two weeks after my surgery, so that will be good even if it's just 3 days a week going half days. Nervous about juggling two kids and trying to leave playgrounds, picking them up and dropping them off if I'm in pain or exhausted. This is the part that I am most nervous about. If any of you have children, you know they're a lot like herding cats!!
Just nervous rambling...I'm sure I'll have more of these in the next week! I also would like to do a "Ta ta to the tatas" kind of going away ceremony for the boobs...or burning of the bras or something like that. Would be fun with a couple of girlfriends. I dunno. Just feels like I need to give them a proper farewell since they've hung in with me for so long (tee hee hee...see what I did there?)
Ta ta for now! xo
