While using embrace scar therapy bandage I felt a sharp pain. The bandage had grabbed a piece of my skin and taken it with it. I now have a new scar. This product will give you additional scars. Do not use it. When I called embrace I told them what had happened. They asked for photo's. I sent them and received no response. When I called again the customer service agent tried to tell me I must have done something wrong or maybe my skin had loose pieces. She was so ridiculous that I was shocked. I asked to speak with a manager and she told me Mark would return my call. He never did. Don't waste your money on this dangerous product. You might end up with a new scar.

I also wrote them to ask a couple of questions and got no response. Not professional.

I had a similar reaction with embrace active defense products. The tension creating device pulls the tape towards the incision and as a result it also pulls the skin along the edges and can cause quite a bit of irritation. I read in their study that about 25% ( I don't remember the exact percentage) of their subjects had to drop out due to skin irritation.

I think the concept of their tension device is a good idea, but the amount of tension it creates too much for people with sensitive skin. For this reason I prefer the "embrace minimize" product which I was told by a manufacturer rep is the same exact tape but without the tension creating device. It also cost much less.

Another trick I would try (with their Embrace active defense) is to not pull the embrace strip all the way back at its maximum tension level. I would stretch it only halfway before putting it on; it didn't irritate my skin is much this way, but there was still irritation. If it helps to know the bruising I got as a result of the tape did eventually go away. I hope your's clears up also. Good luck.

Forgot to mention: when removing the Embrace tape it's best to use a medical adhesive remover (i.e. Allkare remover wipes) so not to irritate your skin with the removal of the tape. One of the embrace reps actually sent me a sample of Allkare adhesive remover. They said they didn't sell it themselves but it's available at Amazon.
