How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

Video

Also! I forget to mention this with the last update but I will be answering all the questions I've gotten asked a lot about my surgery, in a Youtube video once the braces come off. It won't just be about my surgery, it will be a video on general tips everyone getting this procedure should know. Should be in about a month or so. I will definitely post the link on here when I do. I have been writing my best tips down in my notes ever since I woke up from my surgery. I am also a third semester BSN (nursing) student so I have a little bit of background knowledge up my sleeve ;) I look forward to getting my braces off and posting the video!! I will see you guys then :D

Final Update

Hello everyone! Long time since I have updated here. If I can reach any of you thinking about getting the same type of surgery as me for a similar bite, I would just like to tell all of you, it is worth it in the end. It's crazy to think back to the time I was in the same exact shoes as many of you- desperately wishing my jaw would look like the "after" pic of a person who got jaw surgery but being so scared to take the necessary steps for myself. This entire journey has been humbling to say the least, and I am filled with gratitude for the surgeon, nurses, and fellow patients I've connected with online throughout this course. Making my jaw look like everyone else's (and being able to close my mouth properly) was the one thing I always wanted, and with hard work I finally achieved it. What a journey well worth it. Please message me or leave a comment if you have any questions or would like to chat! This is your reminder that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

4 weeks post-op

The swelling goes down more and more every day, and Ibuprofen has never been more useful. I have officially left my cocoon and feel like a new, fresh butterfly ready to explore the revitalized world around her. How could I have gotten through this process had it not been for the relentless support and encouragement gained from various jaw surgery groups online. Please join as many support groups as you can when you are going through ANY process, you will be amazed at how much they help. When you don’t know anyone in your real life going through similar circumstances, there are people there in that group to talk to, going through exactly the same things
