3 Weeks!

So far so good, although I'll admit to rarely meeting the 22 hour a day mandate. I would love to know the average time per day the average successful Invisalign patient wears their trays for. 18? 20? Could it possibly be 22?

On Monday I will go back to my orthodontist for my 3rd trays and my attachments. Excited to be making progress, but not excited for attachments :/

1st Day!

I'm excited about being able to start this journey. I saw my orthodontist at 9:15 am today and received my first two trays. I need to go back in 4 weeks to get my attachments on and there are a lot - I didn't even count.

I'll have 23 trays for both upper & lower for this round and then we'll see about refinements. He is expecting at least set of refinements but is still expecting treatment to take around 18 months.

Right now there is only tightness, no pain, but if that changes, I'll let you know. I can tell my tongue is going to get beat up from the inside edge of the lower tray, but that it not surprising. I'm also talking with a lisp :/

Hello! I'm excited to start my review of...

Hello! I'm excited to start my review of Invisalign and hope this journey won't be too long! Since December of last year, I have seen 5 orthodontists and finally chose one last week. He was actually the last one I met with and I made the decision a few hours after the consultation.

I had one doctor tell me I needed my wisdom teeth removed, a space opened for a congenitally missing pre-molar and an implant. Then metal braces on the bottom and ceramic on the top and it would take over two years. Well, even the metal braces was a non-starter, let alone two rounds of oral surgery, including a very expensive implant.

I had one doctor tell me he didn't suggest Invisalign and another tell me he could use Invisalign but that I'd need to wear rubber bands on my incisors.

Anyway, I chose my orthodontist and the next day I was able to get an early appointment to do the x-rays, pictures, and scans. We talked more about the attachments - I'll need them on my front upper teeth (boo) - and now I'm just waiting for the first set of aligners to come in. I'm hope that is next week!
