Im a young black male that is planning on getting a nose job in the near future. My ideal nose is one that looks natural to my face/ethnic background and retains its masculine feature. I desire the removal of my hump, and narrowing of the bridge and base of my nose as I feel that they are both too wide for my face. I would love the convenience of a doctor in the Bay Area, but would be willing to travel to find the right doctor for me. I have attached my pictures as well as possible desired outcomes that I find aesthetically pleasing to me. Are those results something that is achievable for me?

So, I took the plunge.

Hey fellow Real Selfers. So I have taken then plunge and booked July 21 as the date for my rhinoplasty. Im so overwhelming nervous and excited. I decided to go with Dr. Litner and Dr. Solieman in Beverly Hills due to a few things. First and for most their results captured by video. Their results on African American patients look not only very natural but they gave a beautifully nose that brought out the patients other features. Second, I had done a Skype consult with Dr. Litner due to the fact I'm in Northern California and he was not only down to earth but also was very patient with all the questions I had and gave me a clear understanding of what the process would entail and his observations on what exactly about by nose was disproportionate to my face and what they would do to my nose to balance that out. Third, my gut feeling was telling me that if I was to go through with this that BHProfiles is the place. I know its still a ways away from now but has anyone ever traveled for plastic surgery mainly rhinoplasty and how as your experience with traveling, finding a hotel, issues that may arise. Im thinking I'm going to drive to BH which is probably 5-6 hours away from here, then stay night before and after surgery, head home, then back to remove the stitches.

Great! I went there last April. These docs are awesome. You are lucky to live so close. I flew from Florida. However I didn't mind, the entire experience was amazing.

That's very reassuring to hear your experience. Did you get a rhinoplasty with them?

Extremely happy. If I had to do it over again I would. I have no regrets, well actually .....only that I didn't do it sooner. I am more than certain that u will be happy as well.

Hey. What was the cost? I have a similar desire. I'm going to start saving in mid June.

Hey. Sorry for the late response. It seems in Los Angeles the cost for rhinoplasty is from a starting point of 7500 and up. However, the price I'm going to end up paying is going to be different from yours. You may pay more or less due to your specific needs/goals. To have a more clear idea of a cost you should set up a consult either in person or virtual(which is the one i did). Hope that helps you.

Obsession...Part of the Process? Now traveling alone
cc408May 23, 2015
So as the date of my rhinoplasty and chin implant creeps closer....now June 8, I have become to have obsessive thoughts about the way I currently look and the way I may turn out after my procedure. Sometimes I am so excited and believe surgery is going to greatly enhance my look, other times I just think that it won't do anything but make me look like a slightly different version of myself, and the big price tag may not be justified in the end. Im sure this is the normal process pre op, and while on my search of before and afters of men that received the nose & chin job combo I have yet to see many men that represent me, a black male. So Im thinking about making a Youtube to get at least one more black male presence out there. The only trepidation I have is losing privacy with a subject that is often criticized in the black community.
My friend now is unable to be my chauffeur/caretaker during this trip. Anyone have any experience or tips to share for someone who is traveling alone out of town.

We are having surgery on the same day. Also, there is a possibility that my sweetie won't be traveling with me for my surgery (due to a last minute case assignment). I recovered alone for one of my surgeries and it actually was a blessing because there was no one but myself there to scrutinize every change my nose made--maybe you will feel the same one. So far as the criticism from the black community -- the decision to have elective surgery is a personal choice not a community choice. Try not to let the negative comments bother you. You'll have enough on your mind with the recovery process. Visualize and believe that you will have awesome results! Sending positive vibes and best wishes your way.

Dude, I'm black and also planning on a rhinoplasty and chin implant... Please do a YouTube video. It would be immensely helpful. Everyone gets judged no matter what community you come from so who cares but I think u will find more appreciation than judgement if you follow throw with a video

I haven't had this done but I see your operation is in a few days and I wish you the best of luck! Whatever happens, I hear healing can take a long time, with all the swelling, so try not to freak out if you don't like your result the moment your cast comes off. Your nose will likely change a lot with time and hopefully your end result will be just fine.
