I did my research for a doctor in the San Francisco area and my well respected dermatologist offered the procedure, however, I felt this procedure is beneath the top layers of the skin and felt a plastic surgeon would be a better choice for this procedure. I chose Dr. Larry Fan after reading reviews on him and I am glad I did. He is very patient and answered all of my questions and helped put me at ease. Most doctors try to rush you along when you ask questions.
The procedure: I took a Vicodin once I got to the office, and the procedure took about 1.5 hours. I did the full face, concentrating mostly on the neck and jawline. With the meds, the pain would be a 3 for me out of a scale of 10, so not very painful. When the zap happens in the bonier areas of yr face is when you feel more pain...i.e. jawline, forehead, etc. The forehead area was interesting, as I got zapped on my forehead however it felt like the zap went through my head and I felt it on the top or sometimes back of my scalp! Reading the reviews, others experienced the same, so know to expect this. I had no burns, surprisingly no redness, no pain after and very mild swelling which subsided in a couple of days. Had I gone to work directly after the procedure, no one would have known other than I was extremely groggy under the meds. The first couple of weeks my jawline area was a bit sensitive, slight soreness when touched and when I washed my face and touched my forehead, I would feel a zing on my scalp...this went away in several weeks.
The results: I did not see noticeable results immediately after, but after about two weeks, I noticed I looked better but could not pinpoint what really changed. I think I see more definition now and I just look more refreshed. Several people who had not seen me recently told me i look great, so I'm assuming it is due to ultherapy. I love that ultherapy makes you look like a younger, more vibrant version of yourself, rather than someone you would not recognize if you caught a glimpse of yourself in the department store mirror. It has been 3 months now and I am definitely loving the decision I made. I just wish I had done it sooner. I think the fine lines and crepeyness of my skin has improved slightly as well. I also started using lifeline stem cell Skincare, so this might be helping too.
Thumbs up to Dr. Fan!! A great choice if you are in the San Francisco area. Much better to get it done at a doctor's office, than try to find a practitioner that offers a reduced rate and burns your face.
I would def do this again in a couple of years. I can't wait to see the final results in 3 months!
