I’m not the type to write reviews but it would be an absolute injustice to Dr. Lee if I didn’t write him one. I can’t say enough about him. He’s been my doctor for the past three years so I feel I am qualified to write a thorough review and attest to his expertise and character. I initially went to him for an implant infection (from a prior operation with a different doctor), which he promptly and thoroughly treated. In fact, not one person who knew me knew I even had an infection or an implant removed. I, unfortunately, developed another infection within my tip (from the prior operation in which the doctor placed foreign material in the septum) and didn’t hesitate to contact Dr. Lee again. He again urgently treated my infection and prioritized my situation despite his packed schedule. He informed me that I would have a deformity -- as consequence from the infection – but that we will be able to address it once we’ve cleared the infection. He knew I would be concerned with my look – but he continued to emphasize that eliminating the infection was the first and only priority at the time. His head is in the right space. He places health and functionality over the aesthetics, which surprisingly and unfortunately, is not the case for all plastic surgeons. And now here we are. I’ve waited the minimum number of months to consider a revision. I was completely discouraged during the summer over my situation yet excited at the same time. Dr. Lee has operated on me before so I knew I liked his style. He believes in enhancements that look natural so I was excited to get a revision from him. I could also tell that he has a tremendous eye for detail during the consultation and preop markup. I knew I would come out looking even better than before. I’m not even two weeks post op so I’m still swollen but having gone through this before, I have an idea of what the end result may look like and am excited. Most importantly, I want to emphasize his professional yet empathetic character, which I believe is an important criterion when comparing doctors. The man is dedicated to his craft with the utmost integrity. He’s never pushed me to get anything additional other than for what I asked. In fact, I decided to go for an eyelid surgery with him without him even suggesting – and he has no problem in bluntly telling you if something is possible or not or if the outcome will be aesthetically pleasing (e.g., asking for enhancements that don’t fit your face/body). His fees are incredibly reasonable for a city like SF in which doctors seem to charge over $20,000 for a revision. Dr. Lee is also an incredible problem solver. He had to work within a difficult setting. Rhinoplasty is a difficult procedure; revisions are even more complex. Imagine a revision with a former infection site. My nose was heavily scarred. Knowing this, he provided alternatives for me and what could be done that would be most safe and viable yet aesthetically pleasing. He’s been sympathetic to my cause; I was able to endure this tough journey with his support, expertise, and compassion (I’d email him multiple times with emotional and mental breakdowns and he would call me to ease my worries – seriously, who does that?). This review can go on and on. I’d also like to mention that I don’t live in SF – or even on the West Coast. It would have been convenient for me to find a local doctor but I never wanted to. To anyone considering an operation – may it be something other than the procedures I’ve had – I can confidently assure you that you are in good hands.
