Week 3 post-op: the clothing issue! I'm...

WORTH IT$12,000
Week 3 post-op: the clothing issue! I'm starting to see how fab this new tummy is going to look when all the swelling is gone and the muscle is back and I am excited. However, I'm also kind of having flashbacks to those clothing issues that popped up during the last month of my pregnancies , oh so many decades ago. I recall wearing the same darn maternity stuff day after day and getting so bored with it I wanted to burn it by the time those babies were born! Here i am in week 3, wearing the same pairs of pull-on pants ( over my super-lovely compression garment:-) day-after-day. Anyone else getting the I-want-new-clothes-thoughts? Anyone else able to get into a pair of jeans at week 3??? Certainly not me! I'm trying to satisfy the boring-clothes issue by wearing a different pair of cute flats every day but it doesn't quite work when Im admiring them from my prone position on the couch :-)

Maybe you should switch to heels! If your lying down anyway might as well look fancy!
Yes! Absolutely. I hadn't thought about heels. This is my chance to wear them all day long without my feet killing me :-). Ouch! Too much laughing hurts!
Haha, these posts are making me smile!

I can wear my jeans at 18 days post-op but it feels way too weird on my incision. Not painful, but just odd. And my binder won't fit under my jeans and I need to wear that...so I'm stuck in the pull-on pants also! I satisfy my clothing craving by browsing online about all the cute stuff I want to buy in a few months!
So today was my first day back to work and I have a nice pair of black slacks with an elastic waistband that worked just fine, but jeans are another story! I am swollen and wearing a binder and refuse to buy a bigger size jean so I am just playing a waiting game. Tomorrow is 2 weeks since surgery, and I am going to be patient otherwise I will get too discouraged. From what I have read it will be a 4-6 week point before the swelling is down. Oh well!
Wow, you are back to work in 2 weeks?!?! I holding out for one more week (total of 3 weeks). I hope all goes well for you on your first day back. I,m pretty sure there's a new pair of elastic waist pants in my immediate future as well! Someone told me it was possible to wear a little dress with the legs of the compression garment showing as though they were regular leggings. I think that sounds completely weird!
im going to try on jeans tonight. eeeek. im 2 weeks post op today!!
Oh Lord! I am one week post-op and sneezed yesterday, dropped the F bomb.... oops! Again today, and whoa! That hurt badly!

I haven't felt much pain other than that either!!!

What a time to get a cold!
If you push hard right under your nose(above your lip) when you feel a sneeze coming, IT STOPS! I have no idea how it works, but I did it a million times for the first couple weeks after surgery.

I am 10 week post op and my abs are still sore when I sneeze. It's not really painful, but just feels like I did a killer workout.

fantastic doctor And staff. Final stitches and drains out yesterday. Still swollen but can see that he positioned scar really well. stopped taking any pain meds except Tylenol last week due to side effects and Tylenol works fine.

One word of advice: if you,ve had a lot of muscle stitched, try NOT to sneeze.seriously, the only time I felt real pain was when I accidentally sneezed. Am working on regaining energy and strength by taking lots of short walks, kinda bent over. I usually work in a busy office and it's kinda weird being home alone all day waiting for hubby. my hobby is drawing so I guess I,m going to try a "Frida Kahlo" (drawing while lying down).

Would love to hear from others who are week 2!

The 1st week is the worst you'll start feeling better, but don't take advantage of it,stay in bed. Trust me it will pay of later. I'm 11 days post op and it was my first day not in bed all day. Hang in there... hope you get better
Yes, me too. 8 days post op. 2nd drain removed today and I am so happy about that. Getting better every day, but tired almost all of the time. Trying a new binder tonight once my hubby gets home. The one I got from the Dr. is just so uncomfortable. That is my only complaint today!
they took allmy drains and I'm a new woman. Swelling is horrible but it's coming along... I'll say the new binder made the difference I love the one I got...
1st tough week over with congrats!!! I'm 13 days postop and have been bed resting tons! I thought I felt fab at about 5 days and tried walking around a little more then I should have and am now back in bed. I have a low pain tolerance so I'm still taking the generic percocets to ease my pain.

My advice coming from someone who Is so accustomed to standing and constantly running around as a hairstylist and mommy, rest!

Take this time to relax and let your body heal even if you feel super still rest , I learned the hard way:) remember you just had a surgery and your body needs to focus on healing so rest and nourish yourself with healthy foods:)

Hope your healing goes well! And cheers to a new tummy:)
Yup, I'm forcing myself back to the couch more often this week! I started trying to do too much last week and my body finally said Enough!
Lol yes our body knows best:) I can be stubborn at times but my body was not having it:) laundry dishes are going to have to wait or be done by my hubby:) I get crazy when mess starts building but my body I's going to be a mess if I dont just let it be for now:)

Hope your doing well and painting sounds amazing ! :)

It sounds like you are doing well:)   Just rest, relax and allow your body to heal.

Your drawing sounds like fun and that will definitely take your mind off things.

Be good to yourself, baby steps and you will be back up and running before you know it.  It is hard when you are a busy woman who  is use to flying 200 miles per hour every day.  You suddenly go to doing nothing and it is very strange feeling.

Hang in there and congratulations on your new and improved body:)
