I started researching BA earlier this year and have visited the (seemingly requisite) three different doctors in my area. My case is unique and while all three consultations went well I felt in the best hands with Dr. Gray's approach and experience. (plus, ~go bears~)
I have been unhappy with my chest wall asymmetry my whole life and saw various orthopedic surgeons in my youth who wouldn't operate for Marfan reasons and because I have had two spinal fusions for scoliosis, claiming the asymmetry wouldn't be be noticeable once my boobs came in. Spoiler alert: they never did!
I am finally in a place where I can make this problem go away, and I am SO ready to stop hiding. I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences on here with other marfs and folks with chest wall deformities.

Preop today!

I had my preop today and finalized the implant line and profiles I'll be getting: Mentor MemoryGel moderate profile (R) and high profile (L) placed subpectorally through an inframammary incision. Exact cc's will be determined in the OR.
Dr. Gray and Nurse Cherisse were wonderful in accomodating my adverse narcotic reactions, so I'll be getting Exparel + 2x the normal dose of Celebrex. I filled all the necessary prescriptions today, including the week-long course of Celebrex, Ativan for the morning of, Ambien for the first few nights, and an anti-nausea patch for after anesthesia.
I was also able to speak by phone with the anesthesiologist a few days ago and go over all my extensive Marfan complications and cardiac involvement. He was impressed at how on-top of my health I am, and the conversation definitely helped put me at ease.
I got all my questions answered and a cell phone number to talk to Cherisse if/when more questions arise before my procedure in 12(!!) days.
I feel like I'm the only person on realself whose doctor puts them in an underwire bra right out of surgery, but I trust Dr. Gray and he was comprehensive in explaining his technique.
Lastly I paid in full today. I opted for CareCredit financing because I'm all about dat free money. ;)
I can hardly wait for July 19th.

Day of treatment

Day of Surgery

I couldn't sleep at all last night so between that and the ativan they had prescribed me to take this morning, don't remember much of today.
I arrived at 7:30 for check-in and the first step was a pregnancy test then getting into my gown, hairnet, and favorite little surgical socks. I remember sweating profusely bc I had been instructed not to apply antiperspirant/deodorant after my morning shower.
Dr. Spina the anesthesiologist started my IV bc my veins are always hard to find. Cherisse went over the aftercare and what to expect again, then Dr. Gray made his markings all over and away we went!
I don't remember waking up in recovery at all, or getting dressed and the wheelchair ride out, or the ride home with my boyfriend (who is currently getting me pizza, bless him).
So I've been lying in bed all day feeling pretty okay. I can't feel much except some mild discomfort when I log-roll up and down to stand up and when I breathe deeply. I attribute the painlessness to the Exparel, but will also start taking Celebrex this evening as directed to avoid narcotics entirely.
Dr. Gray ended up using the largest pair he brought in to try, which was:
500cc Mod-Plus (R; 'good' side)
600cc High Profile (L; concave side)
My scars are pretty big and I have quite far to drop&fluff, but I am already happy with them being a vast improvement over my original chest.
I think that Jenny Eden's Boobie Butter (or 'boob lube' as I call it) has helped with my drastic skin stretching and will continue to help as long as I keep it away from the scar glue. Marfan makes me likely to develop stretch marks so I'll just have to wait, see, and lube.
Since I'm still able to use my laptop stand from bed I will go back to coding tomorrow if I feel like it and the magical anti-nausea patch doesn't affect my vision too much. Don't want to go stir-crazy! :)
SO FAR SO GOOD, BABES
