I previously had a "purse string" mastopexy with implants about 9 years ago, and not being satisfied with the results, I started researching cosmetic/reconstructive surgeons. My ultimate goal was to have the implants replaced for a rounder, "perkier" look, as well as the necessary steps required to make my breasts symmetrical. Having been an Registered Nurse for 20+ years, I did the due diligence, as I was very disappointed with the outcome of my previous surgery. (See photo.) I did countless hours of looking at pictures and reading testimonials from surgeons all over the country. I wanted to make certain that I would not have less-than-satisfactory results, (realizing everyone heals differently), so, after two years of online research, I decided to have a consult with Dr. Tom Pousti.
Dr, Pousti's office is in San Diego, California, and I am in Dallas, Texas. However, we did an initial consult via email. Dr. Pousti responded within 24 hours of my initial email, and stated that he definitely thought he could help me. Once all was discussed, it was decided that the best approach, for the best possible outcome, would be a two-stage approach.
My husband and I flew to San Diego on July 11, 2016. I had an in-office consult the following day to finalize what would be done in surgery, and then had surgery on the morning of July 13.
The first stage involved several issues: implant removal, scar revision, pocket repair, a breast lift, and steps to make my breasts symmetrical.
We stayed in San Diego for 10 days, as I had bilateral surgical drains. The first couple of days I mostly slept. However, I felt well enough to go to dinner on Friday night, and we even went to Coronado Island on Saturday. We flew home on Wednesday, July 20, and other than having to have a "pat down" in airport security, (I could not raise my arms over my head for the screening machine), it was an easy affair.
The next stage will hopefully be between November-January, where the plan is to reinsert rounder, fuller implants.
So far, I am thrilled with the results. While I still have some swelling/tenderness, my breasts are where they should have been 25 years ago, (but never were). Dr. Pousti did a great job removing old scar/keloid tissue, and they are also symmetrical. I can imagine that their appearance will only continue to improve as I heal.
The office staff was spot on, not only before the surgery, but afterwards as well. They called to check on me every day initially, and I have sent pictures on several occasions so that Dr. Pousti can see how the healing is progressing.
I am so thankful that I chose Dr. Pousti to do my revision surgery. He has a wonderful bed-side manner, and it is clear that he is passionate about his work. He and his office staff helped to make this process as easy as possible, and I am looking forward to seeing the final outcome in a few months. I highly recommend Dr. Pousti and his staff!
