As a registered nurse, it was so important for me...

WORTH IT$6,800
As a registered nurse, it was so important for me to find a doctor to perform my breast augmentation whom I felt confident about and would deliver the results I wanted. After researching online for months, I came across Dr Pousti who had great reviews on Yelp and real self. In March, I called and scheduled a consult and when I met Dr Pousti and his staff I knew right then and there this is who I would chose (side note: they require a $100 consult fee which goes towards your surgery).

Dr Pousti has great bed side manners-is very honest and attentive, has a great personality, and I instantly felt a connection with him. I knew I could trust him & I never once felt pressured by him-And that is what is so important to me. Working in the medical field, I don't come across many doctors like him-he is definitely on of a kind. His staff is also amazing! They make you feel so comfortable & they genuinely care. Kudos to the staff for being so sweet!! Prior to me coming in for my initial consult I was told to create a collage of goal photos I was trying to achieve. Aka my boob collage! I found it so easy to look through Dr Pousti's website & real self and found woman with similar height and weight as me. I wanted to make sure my goals photos were attainable and reasonable. (Obviously, 400 cc on a 5'7 woman/130 lbs would look totally different with someone who is 5'2/130 lbs). Through my goal photos I learned that woman have different body shapes, some women's breasts are further apart so the outcome would look different with someone who's breast are naturally closer together. I also included photos of breasts I did not like. I made sure to highlight why I liked each photo using words such as fuller, round, cleavage, etc.

My stats:
5'2
130-135lbs
Pre surgery: 34A/B
No kids

During the consult I met with Dr Pousti and learned more about him, his credentials (he is a double board certified surgeon!). He also got to know me on a more personal level-reasons for me wanting a breast aug, my goals, etc. He is selective when choosing which clients he will work with, making sure that they are in it for the "right reasons" & are mentally and emotionally prepared for such a big procedure.
The consult also consisted of me taking measurements, trying on sizers based on the number of cc I was hoping to go with (I tried on 375cc-475cc). Also had a chance to see how I would look with 425cc and 475cc on the 3D vectra imaging system they have. Which was so awesome! I knew at that point I didn't not want to go any bigger than 425 cc, especially due to my frame. I am petite! I do work in the medical field and I personally wanted a size that was appropriate for me to be around my colleagues, patients, and family.
Another things that sets Dr Pousti apart from others is that during your consult you are able to meet with other patients who are 1 week/1 month post op to learn about their experience & to answer any questions that you have. It was nice for them to share their personal stories! The patients I met with were so happy with their results -which says a lot about Dr Pousti's experience as a surgeon. Thumbs up! The consult lasted about 1.5 hours-2 hours. I had all my questions answered and never felt rushed!

I had a consult scheduled with another surgeon but I cancelled that and went with my gut instinct and scheduled my surgery with Dr Pousti for May! I also had a pre op scheduled 3 weeks before surgery, which requires a $500 deposit & goes towards your balance.

Side note: There is a parking fee for consults and pre-op appts. Cash only! $2.25/first hour.

Great question! I probably should know this but I'm unsure. It wasn't something we discussed (or we possibly did but I overlooked it) but as I'm looking through my paperwork from the 3D vectra imaging I do see these measurements related to your question: Breast width: (R) 13.7cm; (L) 14.0 Breast base width: (R) 12.1cm; (L) 12.4cm Not sure which one BWD falls under!

Pre-op Appt & Things to buy!

My pre op consisted of the following: pregnancy test, turning in my completed medical history paperwork and consent forms, and paying my remaining balance for surgery. My bank would not allow me to pay such a big balance so I had to get a cashiers check--make sure to confirm with your bank! Lastly and importantly, you will get pre op/post op paperwork with specific aftercare guidelines & instructions on how to prepare for surgery. This was super helpful and I referenced it many times (meds to stop taking, when to stop drinking alcohol/smoking, the list goes on).

THINGS TO BUY: (**asterisks were my life savers)
**Wet wipes (to clean body)
**Colace/Prunes: helps with constipation due to pain meds
**Hibiclens: I just bought the 4 fl oz from Walmart which was enough. I still had some left over to use. I went on you tube to see how I should wash my body with this cleanser focusing especially on my breast area/arms. Shower the night before, shampoo hair, wash face, then rinse all that off. Use hibiclens last, rinse, and dry with clean towel.
-Clothes: Zipper sweatshirts, button up shirts. Prepare clothes you will need for about 3-4 days (pjs, etc. It's nice to have it all in one place esp if someone is helping you for the first few days, it will make it much easier for them to find clothes you will need to change into).
**Bendy straws. Your arms will hurt lifting anything light! So bendy straws are a must esp when you're in bed all day!
**Drinks: small cans of ginger ale/7up (for nausea)
**Snacks: saltine crackers (Nausea), Jello, soup, yogurt, fresh fruit. Gold fishes were easy to eat especially when I felt nauseated!
**Neck/travel pillow (memory foam). Your neck will hurt sitting and sleeping upright.
**Bar of soap (hurts to press down on liquid soap dispenser)
**Learn proper way to roll get out of bed when you're alone! I referenced real self and you tube to find which position was easiest for me.
**Adjustable back scratcher saved my life!! Itchy nose, face, back, esp when no one is around to help you.
**Dry shampoo (can't shower for approx 10 days, sponge bath ok). Or schedule an appt at a salon to get hair washed
**Take meds as ordered per doctor!! I skipped a couple doses of the Percocet due to nausea and I felt lots of pain afterwards.

I Place all important things I will need during recovery in small basket (at bedside, no higher than your waist for easy reaching--remember you don't and want to lift your arms). It included the following: toothpaste, toothbrush, eye makeup remover, cotton pads, all facial products, hand sanitizer, pony tail, lip balm, medications in pill box (I labeled mine so my bf could easily dispense my meds), deodorant.

DAY BEFORE SURGERY (I got the following ready):
NPO (Nothing by mouth) after midnight,
Ok to bring phone, bring current ID
Bring pillow for car ride (Esp for bumps)
Wedge pillow x2 (Walmart)
Do laundry, clean sheets/pillows,
Bring PlayStation inside room-Netflix!
Oversized pjs (loose tank tops)
Pluck/wax arm pits & shave legs bc you will find it very difficult to do so during recovery

Glad you found it helpful :-) Might want to include a thermometer as well-just in case! I thought I was coming down with a fever so it was handy to have.

MY DAILY DIARY:

(Parking is free at surgical center)

DAY OF SURGERY: 5/10/17. I was scheduled to arrive at the surgery center @ 10am. Surgery time was 12pm. I was called back into pre-op about 20 mins after checking in and met with my nurse to review my medical history, insert IV, change into my surgical gown, compression stockings, and take a final pregnancy test. All my belongings were placed in a separate bag. The nurse had a few questions regarding my goals, asking about the number of cc's I was hoping for (which I was still undecided. I was still debating on 375-400cc). She then asked what kind of look: Natural, Keep them guessing, or ---well I stopped her mid sentence and answered with keep them guessing. The next question was what was more important, cleavage or side boob. I told her cleavage. The final question she asked was would I be more disappointed if after surgery my breast were smaller or bigger than expected. I told her I would be disappointed if they were smaller.
From there, Dr Pousti came in to review my goals once more. Since I was still undecided on the size, I told him specifically that I did not want "huggggeee boobs, or a big gap in between my breasts." I told him I was aiming for 400cc max but I also said that I trust his judgement and to go with what he believes would look good with my frame. He began making markings on my chest and then it was time to go! Yay!!
The nurse then walked me to the operating room, and laid me down and before I knew I it, I was knocked out.
Then....I woke up with boobs! I couldn't see much bc of the surgical compression bra but I could already feel the pressure of my boobage! I was pain-breast and arms (mind you I have such a low pain tolerance! I was given dilaudid via IV). Felt much better! Until the bumpy car ride home. Good thing I brought my pillow for support!

New stats:
Mentor gel Silicone
High profile
Incision through the areola
400cc left breast & 425 right breast (my right breast is naturally smaller than the left and now they're even)! Originally I thought 425cc would be too big for me but I am so glad he chose this size. I am so happy :-)

Day 1: pain 7/10 ---slept the entire day. Took Percocet & Valium. Back hurts from sleeping upright. Nurse called to check up on me!

Day 2: pain 10/10 seemed to be the most painful day. I felt lots of pressure, tightness, anesthesia wearing off. I also had Nausea with Percocet (I called office to request norco/vicodin)---bed all day. I learned to roll out of bed myself today. Took Valium as ordered. Back hurts! Nurse called for follow up. Removed compression stockings today! Yay. What a relief.

Day 3: pain in the AM. I am finally able to brush my teeth wash my face, and use bathroom without assistance. Valium at bedtime. Back hurts-need to buy a heating pad! Finally took a peek at my breasts today! There is still gauze that I am to keep on. No signs of bleeding on incision line, no drainage! Nurse called for follow up. Today I used baby wipes to clean myself.

Day 4: pain in the AM hurts. Tried to not use Vicodin today, Only took Motrin 200mg x3. My appetite is finally back & I had a big Carne Asada Burrito! Found that my breasts hurt, should of continued with Vicodin during the day. I took Valium at bedtime. Back hurts!
Ps since my 1st post op appt is in 2 days I called and asked how to remove the surgical pen markings on my chest. They suggested make up remover, being careful not to touch incision lines.

Day 5: pain in AM. Took Vicodin; Motrin 200mg x 3 throughout the day. Had my first bowel movement-I've been super constipated ????. I've been taking colace 100mg 1 tab daily since post op day 2. I'm trying to drink more fluids and had my bf buy prunes. Finally took sponge bath today. Valium at bedtime. Nurse called for follow up.

Day 6: pain in AM. Took Vicodin. 1st post op appt!! doctor says I am healing well, but still very swollen. I did have a few questions for Dr Pousti bc sleeping upright was really killing my back. I'm using 2 wedge pillows, and I asked if I could alternate sleeping upright on my sides--with the use of pillows on my sides of course. I got the ok! PS the Memory foam neck pillow really saved my life!! So much easier to sleep or rest upright.
I also met with a patient and her husband who was in for an initial consult. (Dr Pousti had asked for my permission of course. I was happy to assist in any way I can). I answered questions she and her husband had. She is a RN as well.
Daisy, one of the assistance readjusted my bra today. Making it a little tighter. I am to wear my surgical bra for 4 weeks total, then I am able to switch to a regular sports bra. My steri-trips are to remain on and stay clean and dry.
I left the office and have my second post op scheduled for next week. I will then be able to begin my massages. I left the office with flowers Dr Pousti and his team prepared for me. He is such a caring doctor! I am so glad I chose him & I couldn't be happier with my results! I can't wait to see the final product once they begin to settle in!

Good luck with your journey! Dr Pousti is one you should really consider :-)
