I am now currently 5 months post op from my original surgery and 3 and a half months from the second revision surgery. I could not be more pleased with my results! I recently saw a pre-op and post-op picture of my breasts and I couldn't believe the difference. I feel better, look better and have LESS pain and MORE confidence!

I would strongly recommend this procedure to those seriously considering it. I wish I would have done it sooner. And if you are considering it, please make sure you see Dr. Pousti.

So an update.....with a complication!

Approximately 5 weeks after my surgery I experienced a complication under the left breast. The incision that was running along the under side of my breast long my chest has begun to split open. At first it was just a small opening but enough of a split that made me go in and see Dr. Pousti. At that appointment I was reassured that this was not uncommon and that all would turn out well. I was certainly relieved to hear that, but Dr. Pousti still discussed different options for the spilt with me at that time. One was to continue on course and be vigilant with dressing changes and patient with results. The other was to go back in for additional surgery to close the wound. At the time I was wanting to stay out of the operating room if possible and Dr. Pousti was cautiously optimistic that things would heal with time and proper care.

Over the course of the next few weeks the wound did get larger. And I was seen on a weekly basis....even twice a week if I felt I needed to go in. Dr. Pousti and his staff never made me feel like a nuisance and ALWAYS made me feel welcomed! I never called to get an appointment and could not get in. I loved that about this staff. I have read several reviews that people have written where they are unable to get in to see their surgeon for days even weeks. Not the case here!!

Nonetheless, I was unable to "get ahead" of the split. Seventeen days after I had originally gone in with the split wound Dr. Pousti decided it was time to discuss our options once again. Thankfully, my physical health was relatively good despite the large wound now probably 4 inches long and over an inch wide. I had no infection and no severe pain. However, it was my mental health that had taken a blow. It's amazing how one little thing can get someone so stressed out. My stress had really started to increase during a family vacation while I was out of town and away from the doctor. Getting on the computer and googling images was no help either. And when I finally came back to town and had my weekly visit with Dr. Pousti I knew he could tell that I was in distress.

He discussed staying the course and continue where we were at with patience and wound dressing changes. We also discussed the option of a Wound VAC to aid in the quickness of the wound healing. The third option was to go back in to the surgery center to close wound. After a lot of discussion and questions from both me and my family we opted to go back in for surgery. Dr. Pousti was very patient and open with all the questions...and trust me, we had a lot of questions and concerns from further complications to possible asymmetry! It was reassuring to hear he was just as, if not more, concerned about my mental health than anything else.

I was scheduled for surgery the following day. The surgery went well and I woke up from it feeling much better and "with it" than the previous one. thankfully. The recovery has been obviously easier considering this surgery was shorter and less invasive. Dr. Pousti had done an amazing job! I would love to tell you all the medical terminology about what he did and how he did but I don't know it. What I do know is that I am happy!

This whole process has been different than what I had originally anticipated. But absolutely worth it! Dr. Pousti and his office staff have been exceptional! Throughout the weekend of my second surgery I received calls from both the doctor and members of his staff (special shout out to Vanessa!). They really have all been such a blessing. Both my mother and stepmother had accompanied me to a couple of the appointments and also praised my choice in Dr. Pousti. I have been so impressed with and grateful for all of them!

I wanted to write this update to let people know that surgery is a big deal and that complications do happen. But there is light and the end of the tunnel and you will get through it. Luckily, my light was Dr. Pousti.

After several years of carrying around size G/H breasts and putting off breast reduction surgery I finally realized the timing was right! And after lengthy internet research and 3 consultations with different surgeons I happily went with Dr. Pousti. His office and surgical staff is friendly, professional and comforting. Dr. Pousti took the time to sit with me, answer my questions and make me feel at ease. After a bad consult experience at another La Jolla surgery office I was nervous and hesitant. Dr. Pousti was so kind and patient. I am currently one week post op and so far couldn't be more thrilled! The back pain is gone. I feel like my posture as automatically improved and I have had several people tell me I look great and asked if I have lost weight! I already have more confidence and am sooooo looking forward to bra, tanktop, dress, and bathing suit shopping as soon as I am able! Thank you Dr. Pousti, surgical staff and office staff!
