Revision surgery is today
After careful consideration, I’ve decided to go back in for surgery and address some of the issues I’ve had since my initial BR surgery in January 2018. Today I’ll be getting two lumps of fat necrosis removed (once from each side), dog ears fixed, and scar revision. I’m not thrilled to be going through all of this again, but I’m hoping the recovery is not as intense and I’ll be feeling better sooner than the first time around. I’ve already come so far, spent so much money and time on this, I figure let’s see if we can get them looking a little closer to what I had envisioned the first time. Good vibes please!
One Year Update
I don’t know how a year has gone by already, but here we are! This past week I’ve been reflecting on memories from that surgery day and the recovery period. It was a tough process for me, but I am happy I went through with it.
If you’ve read my other posts, you know I had pretty severe wound separation, which has created some nasty scarring. It’s not the end of the world for me, and this was of course known before heading into surgery, but I would still love any tips or suggestions you all have for continuing to decrease the scars and smooth the appearance as well.
I also still have hard knots of scar tissue in some spots. Massaging is a little painful, but I try to do it as often as I can. Any other suggestions to reduce the scar tissue?
Sometimes I look at them, especially in the nude photos I’ve taken for Real Self, and I think wow they’re still so big. And they are. There’s no denying I still have large breasts. But then I go back to before pictures and am shocked at how big they actually were. They were incredibly heavy and saggy because they were so dense. My doctor removed so much weight from them and gave them a great lift. Even if they are still “big,” they are such an improvement from before. My back rarely hurts like it used to, and shopping for clothes is not as much of a hassle. I still find myself buying L or XL sports bras. But I actually fit in them and am not spilling out like I used to. I’m wearing a D bra and love the way I look in bras. I haven’t bought too many fancy lingerie items yet, but I still can’t wait to go on a shopping spree for that when I have some money saved.
All in all, it’s been a crazy year. I had a lot of personal disappointments and setbacks, but looking back, I’m happy I took this leap and am hoping it will only continue to get better.

Six Months
In two days it’ll be six months since I had the surgery. The healing was rough the first few months, but it’s getting better every day. The scars are no longer bright red. Some spots are nearly faded. Other areas (especially where I had wound separation) have a ways to go. I’ve continued with the Silagen sheeting, and I might try a scar gel after the sheets are done.
It’s strange how big they still look in these photos. They really do look smaller in real life. I’m so happy with my clothes fitting better, and I actually bought a swimsuit from Forever 21, which has never been an option for me.
I went home for a visit in May, and no one noticed (or at least they didn’t say anything to my face). And I’m totally okay with that.
Since I lost my job, I had to cancel my gym membership, but I’ve been trying to get out and hike or do free physical activities. I’ve lost 8 pounds, and I’m hoping I can keep it up.
