I had surgery with Dr. Pousti a month ago and I wanted to share my experience, even if I am just one more review among 600 other glowing reviews..

First of all, let me say that I am a very difficult patient, very picky, critical...and born into a family where both parents are medical doctors, Consequently, I am familiar with the medical field and there is nothing that I take more seriously than my health.

So, I decided to get a lift with implants after a lengthy search and numerous consults..I had actually consulted with nearly 20 doctors in San Diego and LA!!
I know it sounds excessive, but I just wanted to choose the right surgeon... it's my body after all and I knew that the outcome would vary from one doctor to another, I felt pressured to choose very carefully. You can't control anything during surgery, so it becomes critical to find the best doctor you can trust.

I decided to go with Dr. Pousti even though I was skeptical at first, as he specializes in large implants, and I wanted breasts that look natural and would fit my petite body. Nevertheless, I trusted my instincts and I am glad I did. I chose him due to his outstanding experience and because a friend of mine highly recommended him.

Some of the reviews stated that he came across as a salesman..
Well, all plastic surgeons HAVE to be salesmen; it's part of their job to sell their skills and know-how and then it's left to the patient to decide.

Interestingly enough, I didn't have that impression of him AT ALL!!It was completely the opposite. I was pleasantly surprised with how honest and straightforward he was when I told him I wanted to get a Lipo too. Instead of going along with it, Dr Pousti told me all the drawbacks, that it would have dramatic and irreversible consequences on my skin. Most other surgeons were ok with doing it without warning me of all the negative side effects.

Now, It is true that you have to wait longer in the waiting room and yes, his office appears crowded and there are a lot of nurses and assistants which can seem confusing as you deal with a different person each time. Also,
his location isn't in a fancy building like other surgeons in La Jolla, or West L.A.

You may get the impression that you are rushed through during each visit, but it's just an impression! Dr. Pousti doesn't waste time, it's more about efficiency, which I can totally appreciate. But guess what? These little things don't really matter that much, because he is the Best!!!!

I made my decision right away, before even receiving a quote!! The nurses explained the pre-op and post-op process and I was good to go.

I recall the moment right before they took me into the operating room. I got to witness his genius as he took out a marking pen and after taking final measurements, traced out the surgical plan directly onto my body. He was extremely focused...it's quite impressive! He is undoubtedly a perfectionist and that's precisely why you can't go wrong by choosing him.

At that moment, I asked him if it was true that he will sit me up during the surgery and he said: oh yes!!! as many times as necessary until I'm satisfied with the results.
Dr. P performs surgery at Alvarado Hospital which, according to some, isn't the best place to get surgery in San Diego.. Well again, NOT TRUE!

I had a very pleasant experience!! Yes, I'm talking about a surgery under general anesthesia. From the moment I walked in until It was done, everything went perfectly.
I was very concerned about anesthesia, but after talking to the anesthesiologist, I felt totally reassured. She answered all my questions and gave me a detailed explanation of the process. Then came in Dr. Pousti's nurse, who was very professional with great bedside manners just before taking me to the operating room. She discussed with me one more time the size and shape of what I was hoping for, Last thing I remember is laying on the table and then starting to count while classical music played in the background (no kidding). It's just like in Nip/tuck..:)
After that, I remember waking up to a mild pain before heading home, I was in a blur because of all the medication. The first two days after surgery can be tough, but thanks to pain killers, I barely remember the pain. :)

The medical staff called to check on me every single day for the first week! I remember how conscientious and wonderful Daisy was as she made sure I was all right.

Four days after my surgery, I made a visit to the office to have the drainers removed. Vanessa did an excellent job. She was extremely patient with me, I didn't feel any discomfort! I was glad I got rid of those. They didn't hurt.,..they were just annoying.

I wish I remembered all the names of Dr. Pousti's staff. They were all very helpful, friendly and patient with me, and answered the countless questions I seemed to have. They were very caring and professional and, oh yeah, Drop-Dead Gorgeous!!!

I do, however, wish to make one specific point. The only problem I encountered is that I hadn't prepared myself for such a lengthy and constraining healing process. I remember reading about this in the instructions (I.e., no lifting, no driving, etc.), but I was so excited that I didn't realize, until after the surgery, just how many ordinary, every day things l would be unable to do for 3-4 weeks...To me this was the hardest part of the recovery...Not the pain or the discomfort, but the inactivity.

Another restriction that annoyed me is not being able to fully shower, so as to keep the incisions dry and prevent infection. Every doctor has his own guidelines and I thought Dr. Pousti's were very strict, but I still followed them to the letter.
Right now my scars don't look nice, but it's normal. I will post another picture within a month, to show the improvement..

To sum up the entire experience, I would say that if you are considering breast implants, make sure your schedule is clear and plan every detail in advance. If you are a particularly active person, be prepared to rest because you'll need to take it easy for at least three weeks to two months.

So, If you are 100% sure you can free up that much time, but are still hesitant regarding the choice of your doctor, don't think twice. I am happy to report there is no one better than Dr. Pousti. You can take that to the bank!
