Hi all! I've been seriously thinking about explant for a couple of years now, and finally have the funds to do it. My implants are 330cc, saline, under the muscle. Prior to getting them I was a 34B and will be just fine going back to my smaller self. Now I'm a 34D/DD depending on bra. For the first few years after getting them, I was extremely happy, but now I have gained a few pounds and think that having big boobs just makes me look heavier. Back when I got them I always had the problem of not filling out any shirts/dresses up top (guess the styles a few years ago were more boobie-centric). Now I have the opposite problem and have to buy certain styles of shirts just so I don't look pregnant! And there are just times when I don't feel like wearing a form fitting top just to show there is a difference between how far my boobs stick out vs my belly. Anyhow, I've done a lot of research and am very confident that they will look like their old selves afterwards, even without a lift.

I'm on the same path as you. I'm getting mine out in two weeks though. Mine are 500cc and I feel the same way you do. I feel like they make me look heavy but I'm not. I've thought about going smaller but I'm just ready to be me again... All me. Good luck.

omg, thank you for your last sentence, I am explanting too. in under a month. I hope mine will look like before ba- Ive had 335 g ( anatomical) for 9 years and a few months now and have enough of them. Caused so much misery I'd be insane if I wanted to reimplant now. I pray I like teh real me enough to never want to have fake boobs again. Thank you for posting your story!!!!

Congrats on your decision to explant too! Though I would never judge anyone for wanting them, I'm personally very excited to soon be removed from the fake boobs club! Like many lessons learned through life, I think it's one of those things that you just gave to go through. 9 years ago no one was going to change my mind about implants, and now no one will change my mind about removing them. Best of luck to you and I'm sure you will also enjoy back to your beautiful pre BA self!

I know. I can't believe how silly I was in2006. I really thought silicone boobs ARE like real ones. Around 2 months post op once the swelling that produced this near natural effect was gone I became disillusioned partially. In 2015, after a groundbreaking consult I had on May 7th I am no longer blind. My ps suggested immediate re implanting so I'm having the second preop consult.on Friday but I'm not considering implant swap on SEPT 28. If I choose to reimplant in the future I'd be open about labeling it as relapse - I may choose to go insane who knows. Currently however I'm praying I deal with whatever issues I failed to handle in 2006 so I enjoy freedom after the surgery.
Thank you for wanting to share your story. It gives me strength and hope.

You are so young! Your skin and breast tissue will spring right back. Very glad to hear you are getting them out before you experience health problems. So many of us with implants don't appreciate that the silicone shells start to crack and degrade after 8-10 years - because this fact is not stressed to us when we have BA. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thank you! I'm happy to be in control of how and when they come out, before any complications!

Day of treatment
They're out!

Hi real selfers, well...they are out! Had the procedure this morning, performed under local by Dr. Edelson. Him and his staff are just wonderful. They hooked me up with a little valium to calm my nerves and I'm really glad they did. I wasn't nervous at first, but stuff starts to 'get real' when the doc starts giving you the first injections of local. Pain wise, it wasn't too bad. Obviously those initial injections hurt. In order to make a smaller incision Dr. Edelson asked if I would mind if he deflated the implants first before pulling them out, and I said that was ok. You do feel a lot of pressure with the tugging, and that didn't hurt. The most painful full part I think was the few seconds after puncturing the implant, they have to squeeze your boob to help push out all the saline. After the surgery was over I felt fine, just tired from waking up early and probably from the valium too. It's about 4 hours post now, and I can say the local has definitely wore off. I feel a dull, achy pain around my incision area, so sent the hubby out for tylenol. They did give me vicodin, but I have to jump on a conference call in a couple hours and vicodin will make me pass the ***k out! I'm wrapped up with ace bandage right now, but am going back tomorrow to have removed. Don't have any pics yet to share, but will probably post some tomorrow after the wrap is removed.

Congratulations again!
Congratulations again!

I hope so! Doc told me to bring my snug spots bra with me to appt. I don't have any drains or anything. Just gauze covering sutures, and the ace wrap. So hopefully I can ditch the ace wrap...not sure about the suture gauze though.

Congratulations! I'm doing mine under local in January. I also have saline implants. Would you recommend doing it under local still? I'm a little nervous about it but I don't want to do general.
October 2, 2015
I think local works great if you have relatively low anxiety levels and your procedure is straightforward. ..no capsulectomy, no implant complications, etc. It felt like it it only took about 30 mins at most, plus I saved money from not going under general.

Congrats! Great to hear it went well. I'm having the same procedure with saline implants and local too.
1. Incision discomfort/slight pain from the bra rubbing on them during the first 2 weeks & 2. Back/neck/shoulder pain/stiffness from wearing a sports bra 24/7; other than that things have gone well. You'll be so relieved once they're out :)
