I am so happy that I did this. I no longer feel frumpy. I no longer look in the mirror and ONLY see my warbly ugly neck. It was worth it, a million times over. Dr. Edelson really does meticulously good work.
Lymph massage is amazing!
Nearly 4 weeks after my hematoma fix-it surgery, I was still swollen with really restricted movement in my neck (felt like I was in a head brace). The surgeon said it would all resolve, which I believe, but I also thought there just had to be something to do to speed it up. Lo and behold, I found a masseuse who specializes in all-things-lymph. Although I was a little skeptical - after the first massage I felt 100 times better - and that night I was up peeing a LOT. Swelling went down somewhat but I just FELT so much better, it was crazy. Her name is Kathleen Lisson here in San Diego. http://solacesandiego.wixsite.com/mysite is her website. I just had a second massage today, and am optimistic -- every day DOES get better, and this seems to really help the fluid know where to go. I would never have believed it, but like I said, I was sick of being stiff and puffy and really wanted some relief.... so I have to say, if that is YOU, seeking out a qualified lymph masseuse might help you, too....!
Will post pictures in a bit, but just had to say this. I still don't have sensation on my neck and sides of face (which makes playing the violin kind of "interesting") - but that is livable...

I don't know what day it is since half my face is a week behind!
I'm just learning patience...
Swelling continues to go down at a snail's pace. Tightness and shoulder/neck pain, but none of it is unbearable. Just uncomfortable. Got most of the left side stitches out Friday. Going back Tuesday for the right side. I think it's still too early to tell, but am happy so far. The dermabrasion is getting lighter, too.

Provider Review
Dr. R Edelson
Dr. Edelson has enough experience with plastic surgery to know what will work -- he recommended dermabrasion while I had the facelift and I was afraid BUT I knew he knows what he's talking about so I trusted him and I am very happy with the results. He has a calm demeanor, he is available after the surgery, his staff is friendly. I interviewed other doctors but just felt that Dr. E is an expert at what he does and very comfortable in telling you exactly what to expect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
