I have been interested in a breast augmentation...

I have been interested in a breast augmentation since a young child, when I used to watch surgeries on TV. Though I have always loved the results, I never would have thought I would have the guts to go through with it. I finally was able to start looking into getting this procedure when I was gladly surprised with a check large enough to compensate for such a procedure. I began this journey by looking at many surgeons on Realself, as well as their websites (and reading reviews). I started to get an idea of the look I was going for, with the help of my husband. I wanted natural looking breast that did not ride up too high on my chest. I forgot to mention, I am 5' 2" and about 110- 115 pounds, but I would not say I am Skinny but a healthy, thin petite size, as far as body types go. Also by having this body type and with my previous breast shape/size B-C cup, it made it extremely hard to find any good before and after photos that would be comparable to me. Anyways, I only wanted the best plastic surgeon and someone local so Dr. Lawton seemed to be too good to be true. I decided to schedule the free initial consultation. I went to the appointment with my husband under the assumption that I would be willing to pay extra for silicone, due to their (supposed) "more natural feel". Dr. Lawton was well able to explain the dangers and profit gimmicks that comes with getting silicone. By him taking the time to explain the true nature of silicone, I gained the upper most respect for this caring doctor. That day I booked the surgery, which cost a non- refundable payment of $300 that will go towards the amount due. After paying I booked the last visit, that would be two weeks prior to the surgery. This last appointment was basically a rundown of what to expect the day of surgery and I was given all of my prescriptions and vitamins that I would need to take to be in optimal shape (In order to achieve for the best possible results). The last payment is also due on this date. I went home and followed the instructions from the nurses "to the T". My anxiety began to grow as the big day came closer. I was able to overcome this fear by me studying the safety of this type of particular surgery. I was able to discover how extremely low-risk and high success rate this surgery actually was. On the day of the surgery, I got a call 30 mins early saying Lawton was ahead of schedule and to head over. About 15 mins later, I was already beginning to get my vitals taken for surgery. The Nurse numbed part of my arm before inserting my IV. This really impressed me that they would go so far out of their way to ensure their patients comfort. I knew I was in good hands. Also, the operation bed was something very comfortable. Before wheeling me out to main surgery area, the nurse gave me a mild sedative to calm my nerves. At this point, I was already beginning to fall asleep. After surgery I was still a little groggy and the nurse watched over me for about 30 mins, until I was able to walk a few steps without much trouble. I was taken to my car in a wheel chair, where my husband drove me home. My chest was very swollen at this point. I also was needing help to do some things I took for granted on an everyday basis, like get out of bed (partly due to the extra weight). Two weeks went by and I was able to return to work and was mostly off of my pain medicine. I probably could have got off pain medicine earlier but I am sort of a baby when it comes to pain/ soreness. I have had many follow ups since then and have probably spent hours at Lawton’s with no extra fees for visits. Don’t worry of your breast don’t look the way you want them to initially post-surgery, because the road to perfect breast can’t be rushed, but is well worth the wait. It has been a year since surgery, and my results are amazing! Post-surgery I massaged religiously and the importance of this I cannot express enough. I personally have kept my breast augmentation a secret from almost everyone I know. This choice I feel you will find is better than telling people and risking judgment. By slowly introducing your new breast to people you know but not telling them I feel you will find yourself much happier. Because, In all honesty, some things are better kept as secrets. For anyone who may read this and is wondering I choose 550cc under the muscle saline. I found my size through filling panty hose with different amounts of rice and trying it on under a bra. It may sound silly but really helps you get an idea of what the implants are going to look like. If you google it there will be instructions to do this. I really hope this review helps someone who is at a dead end. I will post some pictures soon. Thank you for anybody who has taken the time to read through my journey.

I cannot stress enough how important patient education is for you to make the appropriate decisions. Even if ultimately you choose a different surgeon at least you will leave with the tools you need to separate the truth from the sales pitch that plagues plastic surgery. Thank you for letting me be part of your journey!
