I had my consultation with Dr Kopchinski about a week ago. I had gone to a couple of other consultations before him, but I feel the most comfortable with him. He didn't "glamour" the procedure or outcome of what the implant would look & feel like which I really appreciate. He took a lot of time to really go over everything with me, and I definitely didn't feel rushed or pressured into anything specific which I kind of did with other surgeons. He told me that because my chest was so narrow and small, it would be really difficult to put anything over 300cc, he said that might even be pushing it. He asked me generally what size I wanted to be, which is about a full B/ small C... a little bigger than how i look in a push up bra... so 300cc would pretty much get me there anyways. I was originally was going with saline because I'm under 22 so that is mostly what we spoke about. I have been researching this procedure for years now, even watching videos of the procedure its-self so i know exactly what to expect . (i will do a separate post on why i wanted this done in the first place).
MY STATS
age: 20
height: 5'5
weight: 108-110 lb
chest: 32a (L) / 32aa (R)
Placement: under muscle
Incision: under breast
saline or silicone: not sure yet
size: around 265-300cc (not confirmed)
My original thought was that you couldn't legally get silicone implants under 22 in the states (not true), so i was fully set to have saline. I was mostly concerned with rippling, and he even told me that because i was so small, it might occur very faintly toward the arm area where the implant isn't covered by the muscle.... I don't really love that idea... even if it is only me that would notice it. They also wouldn't feel as natural on me because i don't have a lot of breast tissue to cover it. He basically left the decision up to me as to whether i should wait or not which was nice because he wasn't trying to sell me on something he didn't know if i would love in the end.
I will try and post pictures tonight btw

Waiting for responce
hansofedMarch 29, 2016
So i was going through peoples ba reviews this morning and noticed a lot of girls under 22 getting silicone so i decided to do some digging... apparently its perfectly legal to have it done with silicone under 22 its just FDA "recommended" to wait so surgeons don't really try to promote it. I decided to call the surgeon this morning to see if he would give me silicone instead. I spoke with his assistant, and she said he probably would, but i wouldn't have the warranty on them like i would if i waited. I really just want to get them done now and know that i will love the end result, so I'm hoping i get his approval! If i had a little more breast tissue to work with, i think i would stick with saline. I just know from reading personal experiences and surgeons preferences, that silicone will be a lot more natural on my fame.

Reason for BA

My parents have been bugging me to go see a surgeon about a double mastectomy since i was about 17. We were thinking breast cancer might be genetic on my moms side. My mom had breast cancer at 40 (had a lumpectomy). Her mom had BC around 46-47 (had a mastectomy), and HER mom had breast cancer (passed away from it, not sure what age).
I researched the procedure WITH reconstruction, and saw about 90% of feedback saying that reconstruction wasn't worth it because there is no tissue or anything to support the implant so it made them very pronounced and noticeable afterwards, also the majority of women said that the pain after implants were put in was so intense that most of them either regretted having implants, or actually went back and had them taken out. This obviously freaked me out, so i was really hoping i wouldn't have to do that procedure NOW, but i did want their thoughts on it. All the surgeons i saw pretty much told me the same thing. It most likely isn't genetic because they were over 40 when they got BC, so it wasn't necessary to have the procedure done now, but i do have a higher chance of contracting it. I was also told that since I have so little tissue, that they would most likely have to take everything off meaning i wouldn't be able to breast feed..... I'm not ready to remove my nipples just yet lol. I kind of figured that's how it would be, so I decided to just go ahead with the BA part and skip the removal since i don't actually need it.
Might as well have boobs while i can!!!

Glad you can move forward with your surgery. I have read of other women like yourself that have decided to get their BAs despite the breast cancer in their family. Have you asked your doctor what method of breast cancer detection you will use, such as mammograms, MRI, etc? You are young but wondering if you will be getting a baseline mammogram for future use?

My mother in law has a cancer gene that has a 50% chance of being passed to her children. If they get it, they have a 50% chance of passing it on to their children, if not, it stops there. It's a gene you can be tested for. Her mother had breast cancer as well. It can also be passed to men as breast, pancreatic and prostate cancer as well I believe and ovarian cancer in women. I'm thinking it's the same gene Angelina Jolie had perhaps you could go through a genetic test to give you peace of mind for you and your future children if it's the same type that runs in your family.

That is what the surgeon was thinking. But he said that since they were over 40 that testing wasnt mandatory. I do want to get the test done eventually though! My grandma had a couple brothers and sisters but they all passed away before my mom was born so we never had a chance to ask... or even think about asking. I will find out eventually though

Don't forget If you want kids in the future to ask & research all about nursing with implants. I just weened my fourth child in Nov & got implants 12 days ago. I would hate for you to regret the fact that you may not be able to nurse effectively or without problems if you do get then & don't understand all risks involved. Good luck with this process!! Proud of you for being so thorough in your preparation & research. :)))
Thank you!! :D
