After losing over 100 pounds following a vertical sleeve gastrectomy, I had significant excess skin, particularly in my lower body (which had always been heavier). I started researching different surgical options and decided I needed a lower body lift, rather than just a tummy tuck. I found Dr. Fisher, and it was the best choice!!!Dr. Fisher was fantastic! I found him initially through a Facebook page and then researched him here on Realself. I also looked at his website for examples of his work. I reached out to him, as well as several other doctors for a virtual consult, and I sent him my pictures. He responded personally to my email within the hour, followed by a 45 minute phone call where we discussed what I was looking for and what he would recommend. After speaking with 6 other doctors, I was confident that Dr. Fisher was the right surgeon to perform my procedure. I had one in person consult a few months before my procedure and then saw him again in July 2016 when I traveled from Georgia to Texas for the procedure. He took a lot of time with me at each meeting, he was very personable, and he was direct and realistic about what I could expect. That said, he's also very committed to getting the best possible results, a combination of surgeon and artist, and I'm thrilled with how things turned out.He is especially committed to creating a feminine figure with the lower body lift, rather than leaving a boxy, boyish shape. To do this, he uses a signature procedure where he uses your own tissue (not fat injections) to create curvy hips and a rounded buttocks. I have received nothing but compliments on my figure, from men and women both, and I feel like my body finally reflects who I am and how I feel inside!

Congratulations! It must be feel so good to reach the end of your journey and to finally see how all your hard work paid off. If you don't mind, how old are you and did you happen to consult with Dr. Lomonaco? If you did what made you choose Dr. Fisher? How long did you have to stay down in Texas? I have lost over 70 pounds kept it off for 5 years now through diet and exercise. I am almost 40 years old with two teenage children. I have been researching a lower body lift, spiral thigh lift and arm lift. I was hit all over with the weight loss as I was pretty evenly distributed weight wise. I reside in NY state and will need to make accommodations for down there. Can you provide more details on your preparation for such a big procedure out of state. Thank you!

Thanks! I'm 48 years old. I didn't talk to Dr. Lomonaco. I chose Dr. Fisher because of his specialization in surgery after massive weight loss and his understanding of the LBL as something different than the 360 tummy tuck, and belt lipectomy, which may docs think are all the same. Many doctors said, "sure, I can do that," but I wanted someone who specialized in it and does them routinely, rather than every once and a while. Also, many docs didn't include any hospitalization, and some only 1 night. It was important to me that my immediate care be well monitored and I didn't want to take any chances. He told me to plan to be in TX for 2-3 weeks, and I booked for 17 days. I left on day 14 because I was doing so well. I had my drains removed on day 4! His team gives you information about an extended stay hotel they recommend for patients, and I looked on Airbnb, but I have family in San Antonio, so I ended up staying with them, which was a huge help. That said, I would have been fine in a hotel or rented house/apartment. There wasn't much else to do to prep for out of state care. I had my local doc do the pre op testing, because Dr. Fisher needed it 3 weeks in advance. I got there on a Tuesday evening and had surgery Thursday morning. I saw Dr. Fisher on the Wednesday morning for my surgical mark up, ran a few errands to have tape, gauze, pain meds, etc ready for when I got out of the hospital, but it really wasn't complicated. I also am someone who has good intuition, paired with making sure my questions are all answered in advance, and is a minimalist. I never thought I needed lots of the things that others mentioned wanting/needing/having, and I found that I was right for myself. Everyone is different, though, so just think about what you think you will need/want and go with it. I did use lots of pillows for propping myself up after surgery, and thankfully my cousin had all of that at their house, so I didn't have to do much when I arrived in terms of getting things ready. But, do get a couple of loose-fitting dresses to make it easier to deal with the drains. I went to Ross and got two that were basically beach wraps, and they worked fine. I hope that is helpful--if you want to know more or have other specific questions, please ask!

Thank you so much for your feedback! I was looking into Dr. Fisher and Dr. Lomonaco as they both specialize in post MWL patients and understand that our needs go beyond a routine tummy tuck. Wow I didn't know the stay was that long too. I was thinking the most would be 10 days. Seems that this requires a lot more planning out than I thought. Fantastic advice!

Hi how are you now and congratulations! Your transformation is such a credit to you and dr. You are the only person I've seen with the small vertical scar. I also lost over 100lb and I will have this scar too. I haven't had my presurgical appt yet, so thought I'd ask you why it's there? Is it because the large vertical inscision isn't necessary? Thanks so much. Donna

He didn't plan on any vertical scar, but he needed to do a little bit of one to get the best result and I was fine with it.

How are you doing now after the body lift
November 7, 2016
Great! I'm 4 months out today from surgery and all is well. Still some swelling, so I'm going to do some lymphatic massage this week to see if it will help, as well as help with a hardness underneath my incision. It's not painful, it just feels weird to the touch.
