Almost 3 months post surgery

I'm glad to report my right thigh openings have all healed just like Dr Fisher said. I'm much better but still have itching around my scars mostly at night. Drives me crazy but I still use benydryll.
I think I underestimated thigh surgery. A tummy tuck is way easier & shorter recovery. I have no regrets but I'm glad the worse part is behind me. I really like my new legs.

How is your swelling now - is it gone? I am 1.5 months post op and my swelling and tightness is so annoying. I just want to feel normal again...

Good news on the openings - mine has healed as well.
Casey1638. My swelling has really subsided. I did some lymphatic drainage massages which helped. My problem is mainly still itching in the late evening.
That's good to hear! I hope mine eventually dies down. I noticed it's the worst when it's humid or raining. For some reason I haven't had any itching yet, maybe it is the way my doctor did the incision with it being pinched up. When did your itching start?
I have to write Dr Fisher for my before & after photos.
Glad to hear that you are progressing along so well..finally. :) Can't wait to see some after pics next time.
What kind of thigh lift did you have? It looks so different than a few of the others on here so I am confused. I can't think of her docs name right now but I have it saved. He is in Texas too. Did you consider other docs and why did you choose him?
@mciampi I had an extended vertical thigh lift. I chose Dr Peter Fisher because of the excellent reviews on Real Self and extensive work in the area of thigh lifts. I did not consider any other docs after I communicated with some of his patients who were extremely satisfied with him as a plastic surgeon.
Thanks! I hope you can the pics from your doc. Also more afters from you too in better light. This thigh lift looks awesome so far. Did you say you had or are considering other procedures? Also would you go to Dr Fisher for those?
I made the mistake of reading your story and all comments and one other on the same night and I forgot who said what!!! I hate when I do that!

Bumps in the road

Well there are still bumps in the road. My right thigh wound opening seemed to be infected. I went to my primary care dr. yesterday due to swelling above my right knee. It was becoming hard to walk so I started to worry. I don't have a fever or pain...just was concerned because it just didn't look normal. My dr sent me to the ER for I.V. antibiotics and that took about an hour to receive. Of course there was a long wait in the ER for my prescriptions an results of labs ( hours- UggH)
My blood work & vitals were all good. Results from the culture didn't come back yet. I got a prescription for oral antibiotics. Today some of the swelling has gone down and I feel better just knowing things seem o be getting better.
With thigh lift extended surgery healing is a process. My left leg healed perfectly but my stubborn right side had wound openings. Don't get discouraged if this happens as it isn't uncommon.
I am using Medi honey that I ordered from Amazon. It really helps with wound healing. I read about it on this site.
Hopefully I'll have more good news to report about my wounds in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks for the update. I'm having a thigh lift, with Dr Fisher, in a few months. Already had a lower body lift and arms done by him. Dr Fisher is wonderful. I was lucky because I had no openings or complications. I seem to heal very well and quickly. Good luck with your right leg. Sounds like getting on an antibiotic might be just what you need.
Sorry to hear about your infection - hope it gets treated quickly! Can I ask when you felt the majority of the initial swelling came down after the surgery? I am 9 days post-op and still in swell hell! I'm hoping after 2 weeks it will go down but I'm afraid it could take longer...
@casey1638 my swelling was continuous until about 8 weeks. If you have lipo done during thigh lift it seems to be more swelling. I'm just now noticing that my swelling has gone way down. My infection is gone. Dr Fisher was right.., the wound openings have healed on their own except the one on my back side. It was the biggest opening but it seems to be closing nicely. Of course the medical grade bee honey really help all wounds. I am finally starting to feel like myself again. Next week makes 9 weeks post op.
Good to hear that it does get better even though longer than expected. I'm so glad your wounds closed up and you're feeling better!
@dogdays11 it is not uncommon to have wound openings with thigh lift surgery. I understand more likely than other surgeries. I didn't have wound openings until about 4 weeks post op. I was surprised because I thought I was out of the woods. Just be prepared in case it happens. Order some medical grade bee honey to have on hand just in case....way better than antibiotic ointment for wound healing. It's funny but my right leg was the most problematic and my left leg perfect. Best of luck with your upcoming surgeries!
You look wonderful! Thanks for sharing your story :)

Turning point @ 6 1/2 weeks

It seems 6 1/2 week is a tuning point in the healing process. I feel like I have alot more energy. I have less swelling & tightness in my legs and very little itching and soreness. I still have some open wounds which are healing well with the use of medi honey wound gel. I'm still wearing my compression garment and trying to eat a diet high in protein, take vitamins, bromelain & arnica. Sleeping on my side is much easier.
My best advice for anyone undergoing a thigh lift, make sure you get 100 grams of protein even if you have to drink protein shakes. Do this from day one.
It only gets better with time!!!

so glad to hear you are doing better. Can't wait to see new pictures of your progress. I'm going to Dr F for a full body overhaul next year. In two stages of course. But love seeing the results of his work because it makes me feel more secure in my decision to go with him. Thanks for sharing. God bless you with a speedy healing and recovery.
Thanks Juanatre!!!
