My upper lips were done several years ago by...

My upper lips were done several years ago by Stephen Mobley at the University of Utah.  The implant was Gortex and done in two pieces, one on each side of the lip.  At first I liked the implants because they did make my upper lip more ful so that it was closer to the size of my lower lip.  That satisfaction soon faded when I realized that the implants looked aweful, especially when I smiled, they were not as large as I desired, and that they were twisting under the skin causing strange sensations, and the twisting caused a tugging on the permanent stiches holding them in place, discomfort.  I dealt with it; I spent too much time and money to get it done so I did not want to find out how much more I would have to for a reversal.  Then I got a 105 fever for no apparent reason so it got me thinking about possible causes.  My best assumption is that my lip implant, which continued to increase in pain and movement, being a foreign object to my body was the cause.  From my current understanding Dr Stephen Mobley is closer to an orthopedic surgeon than a plastic surgeon, and that he is not qualified to perform this surgery.  Also Gortex is an old fashioned implant to be used.  I think that one of his office staff who use to do medical proceedures but then was not doing it any longer assisted or guided him in some way for the surgery.  I got my lip implant, chemical peel, and scar sanding in the same surgery session that took place in an offsite surgery facility.  I was put out for these proceedures, but from my understanding that is not necessary for any of them. Anestesia is dangerous so it scares me that it was given unnecessarily.  Plus it was an unnecessary expense for that and the offsite facility.  The right implant got lose of its stitches.  It was not my fault; I was not playing with them or anything and only touched them with a q-tip to peroxide and ointment them.  Mobley charged me $500 more dollars to restitch it while students watched in his clinic.  It was 45 minutes with a bright light in my eyes that I had to close them and listen to them all whispering.  Horrible.  This review was hard to decide to write because I genuinely like Stephen Mobley as a person, but with so many questions and concerns about his surgical decisions I felt that my experience needed to be shared to benefit others.  It has been 9 years so maybe his practices, decisions, and expertise have changed, but it does not change the long term affect of time past.
