After speaking with my PS office we have a plan! I'm going to complete PT, like the insurance requires, and I'm also going to pay out of pocket to see my old Chiropractor from when I was 16. He is the originally health care professional who recommended I get a reduction. He will assess me and then write a letter to my insurance company. I also need to write a letter stating why I'm in need of this surgery. I will also get a letter from my PT at my re-assessment on November 25th to give to my insurance company. Man, so many hoops to jump through just to prove my need for this surgery! Once I have all the letters, my PS office will re-submit. They said my insurance CANNOT deny then because I will have complete the requirements they stated in writing. I'm hoping it will get re-submitted by the end of November! I'm feeling hopeful again.

Glad you have a plan in place! It's so ridiculous that insurance companies make us jump through so many hoops to have this done. If it were a man with things this size swinging between his legs, they would have no problem approving! I hope you are able to resubmit by the end of the month. Good luck!

I hope everything goes well. I know that you are dealing with a heavy load, I know that you will feel better after the procedure.

I had my consult yesterday so I haven't heard from my insurance yet but my PS says she has dealt with them before and they were sticklers for all of their requirements being met before they will approve. I have lost 25 pounds in the last three months, I actively exercise at least 3 x a week, and I have a letter from my chiropractor. My PS still thinks we need to go through with some PT for a period of three months (which is a stipulation from insurance) even though I did PT for about 2-3 weeks back in 2009 with no relief of symptoms. So I know how you are feeling. She said she would still submit my info on monday with everything i have now and we can wait and see but we are setting up PT in the mean time so we won't lose any time if I need to do it for approval. I honestly don't think the insurance companies think when it comes to these stipulations. I mean I know chiropractor appts. and PT are less $ yet I am pretty sure I will go through all of this and still need surgery so they are just incurring more expenses that they have to pay! Duh!

I feel the same way. They're sticklers who play games and make you jump through hoops. I'm playing their game and following their stipulations. I pray we both get what we need.

I just received the denial letter. It states "Approval criteria for reduction mammoplasty include the requirement for 'four to eight visits of physical therapy or chiropractic care, 2 to 4 months of home exercise for cervical, shoulder, or upper or lower back pain". Has anyone gotten one similar to this? It's passed 5 o'clock therefore I can't call my PS or insurance for further explanation. I'm certain it means they want me to participate in PT before they'll consider covering the cost of the surgery. It's a let down but I know everything happens for a reason. I start PT tomorrow and will be going twice a week until the beginning of December. Bottom line is I'm roughly a size G on a thick 5'3 frame. I have permanent shoulder indents, rashes under my breasts, lower back pain and neck pain. My guess is that the person who denied my request is either a man or a woman who has never been in our shoes... Or size bra!

I got denied within 24 hours of submitting my claim. I didn't want to deal with waiting anymore or the appeal- I just wanted it done so I went the cosmetic route

That's awesome that you we're still able to have it done. Unfortunalty, I don't have the means for out of pocket.

Have you looked into care credit?

I'm sorry your insurance denied you. That's really a bummer! Don't give up though. There are plenty of women on here who were denied, some more than once, and still were approved in the end. That's good that you are already starting PT. And 4-8 visits could be done in two months! You'll get there. :-)

I was approved, however insurance is paying very little because my deductible is so high. Going to do it anyway. Surgery is set for Nov. 20th! My cost will be 7,700.00. I am using the Care Credit card. 0% interest for up to 2 years. I'm so over these big boobs! Good luck to you. I hope you get approval. I told my doctor that if these were testicles, they would be covered always! Lol

Good that you started the process - I am sure help is on the way! I am scheduled in 8 days! Yikes - as yet unprepared. Once you set your mind on it you will find a way. Good luck.

I was also a 38G and my PS got me down to a D. I was hoping for a C but anything is a huge improvement in my eyes. You can read my review if you want to see my journey. I do need to update my photos soon! PS they look 4 1/2 pounds from me!

Your review was actually one if the first I read. They're all very encouraging! I'm stumped on how small I want to go. I'd be happy with a D I think. :)

Aww that's great, I also were looking for ladies that were the same size as me so I could get an idea where I would end up. You will be SO pleased when this is behind you!
