I had two different sets of implants over the course of 14 years. The first set were submuscular saline, 350cc bags overfilled to 425cc. After breast feeding my daughter for a year, my breasts had begun to sag over the implant. Instead of getting a needed lift, I opted to go for 600cc subglandular cohesive gel implants. I did this because I was afraid of the scarring involved with a lift and hoped to get a lifting effect with a larger implant. I did this with subglandular instead of submuscular implants because I didn't want the "snoopy effect" in the event that my breasts would head further south. The larger implants did give more lift and I had no more snoopy, but after about 5 years with these large implants, I was sick of them and wanted them out. They were very heavy and were causing back pain and I found it difficult to breathe when doing cardio. I also had a difficult time getting clothes to fit and felt self-conscious about my breasts looking too large to fit the rest of my body (I'm 5'6" and weigh 150 lbs). They were indeed continuing to head south and I knew I was going to need a corrective surgery. So, I decided that I just wanted the implants out and to get a lift and be done with it. It's been over 4 months now since I had my surgery and I'm really pleased with the results. I'm a perky b cup now.  A load of weight has been taken off of my chest. My back feels better and I can breathe easily when exercising now, which is motivating me to workout more and lead a more healthy lifestyle. I feel more confident in my clothing too because I have a more natural look. I look thinner too without the very large breasts. I've seen many pictures on this site of others that had their implants taken out without the lift and they look great. I opted for the lift because I felt that I really needed it. I will try to upload some photos when I get a chance. There is definitely more scarring involved when you get a lift due to the larger incisions, but they are well disguised. 4 months post-op, the scars around my nipples, which were reduced, are barely noticeable even close up. The scars in the inframammary fold are pretty well hidden due to placement but are still reddish in color and so are more visible when the breast is lifted. The most visible scar is the vertical scar that extends down from the nipple. As it fades over the next year though, I can tell that it won't be very visible. If any of you are just over your implants and want them out, I can tell you that I'm so glad that I gathered my courage and had it done! I loved my surgeon and his team and I really love my results!

If you are looking for a phenomenal plastic surgeon in the Triad area of NC, look no further than Dr. Howell. He was recommended to me by a local dermatologist who told me that he was the best in town. I met with 3 plastic surgeons total, including Dr. Howell, because I wanted to feel that I'd done my homework. I chose Dr. Howell and I'm so glad that I did! The results of my breast implant removal with a bilateral lift are far better than I'd hoped! I'm so happy to have the implants out and my breasts are now perfectly symmetrical and as perky as when I was 16! Dr. Howell was able to "reshape" my natural tissue to give me as full a look as possible without the implants. I'm now a B cup and look great in my clothes (was a very heavy and large DD). I've gotten more nervous about surgery as I've gotten older and there was so much about going to that office that helped to put me at ease. First, based on the consultation I was confident that Dr. Howell knew what he was doing and that it was his goal to give me the best results possible. He's also really sweet and has a sense of humor. Secondly, his staff was incredibly thorough in getting me educated and prepped for surgery. This was the fourth surgery I've been through and I have never had an office go through the lengths to get me prepped as this one did. I had exact instructions set out for me on a timeline to follow (which included a supplementation program provided by the office) before the surgery and after the surgery. The morning I arrived for surgery, the surgical nurse was so supportive and adept at putting me at ease, then the nurse anesthetist arrived and explained things so thoroughly that I knew I was in experienced and caring hands with her, and lastly Dr. Howell arrived and I saw a cross around his neck, which also brought me comfort. He began his drawings on me as he "mapped out" the surgical plans and I could tell that he was painstakingly meticulous. I learned at this time that he had also studied architectural engineering at some point before deciding to become a surgeon. This aptitude comes out when he is planning a surgical procedure because you can see that he has an eye for, almost an obsession for, being precise. I was literally thanking God that I'd chosen him and was confident that my results with Dr. Howell would be the best achievable outcome. He is a master at his work and I am an extremely happy customer!!!
