One month post-op update.! (Plus a few days)

WORTH IT
Hi everyone! I had been planning on updating my progress weekly, but since school started almost 3 weeks ago it's been tough to keep up. I figured a one month (and 3 days) update would suffice!

The soreness is basically all gone! Pretty much nonexistent. I don't remember exactly when it went away, but it's been gonna for probably 2 weeks now. I have been alternating between a surgical bra and an under armor zip up sorts bra in size XL. (They run super small) The bra my surgeon recommended is an underwire, and I've read on here they are not the best. However, I'm going to try wearing it this week to see how it goes since it's supposed to help shape my new breasts AND is a sports bra! With that said, I am going to try working out this week. I have been itching to get back running and my weight is most definitely agreeing with that! I will let you all know how that goes :)

I have been having so much fun trying on new clothes (well old clothes for me that feel new because I haven't been able to wear them) and trying on bathing suits. I went to target yesterday and tried a size L triangle top that fit perfectly!!! I'm so happy, spring break here I come! My only qualm is that I asked to be a small c/large b, and I'm at least a D right now. I know that the swelling has to go down but I am itching for my smaller boobs!

As for the scars, they are still red. I haven't touched them (I'm too scared) and want to start scar treatment. Does anyone know when I can start that?

That's all I can think of for now, I'll keep you ladies posted! And as always, feel free to ask me any questions or leave comments :)

Ur boobs look absolutely gr8! Your PS has "hands" Look t those NEAT incisions. wow!
Thank you so much!! My PS was amazing, those incisions were the first thing I noticed, honestly couldn't be happier!
You look amazing!!
I started scar treatment as soon as my PS took the strips off - so....nearly a month post op. It's good to get into them right away!
What did you use for scar treatment? I currently have Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E and BioOil. I have used some of the cocoa butter but not sure how to "massage" properly or how often to apply it.
I am using Bio Oil :) Apparently it's the best ahaha
I will have to start that treatment tomorrow! How are you applying it?
I am using it twice a day :) I just put it on the tips of my fingers and rub the scars in small circular motions. I spend about 5 minutes doing it in the morning and about 20 minutes doing it at night.
I just started doing that, it takes so long for it to absorb into the skin though!
Patience
They look fantastic! The surgeon did a great job, and your healing looks to be coming along tremendously well. Gives me confidence to see a job well done :))
Thank you so much! It's always reassuring to hear my healing is going well! I get nervous sometimes that they're not healing right but I know that is me being paranoid. My surgeon was so wonderful, I'm so happy I was able to do the procedure!
I had my surgery on December 8, had a bit of a hiccup, but everything is going great now. It has been recommended to me not to wear underwire bras. I am still wearing a soft front opening bra. Bio oil is my best friend. I massage the whole breast as I found my breast skin got very dry, but since I have been massaging bio oil it is so much better. I will be going to Costco to get the bigger bottle as I am going to continue with it. Good luck to you. I wish I had done this years ago - unfortunately I left it too long and I have a deep indentation in my back (spine). Better late than never
I'm happy to hear everything is going great now! I just started using bio oil and massaging it into the scars, the only thing I don't like is how long it takes to absorb into the skin! I hope the bio oil works for you, can you see a difference yet?
Definitely. The scar straight down from my nipple going into the ) is almost gone. Needless to say I am going to keep doing it. The other scars seem to be calming down as well. I know it is time consuming but I've come this far...

First day back (and the pain that follows!)

So today was the big test...it was my last first day of school and officially two weeks after my surgery! I was walking around campus all day with a heavy coat (it was 2*F here!) and a backpack on. It was a tad painful, but nothing I couldn't handle. The big issue I'm having is the irritation and sensitivity on the incisions. I am not wearing the underwire bra I bought that my doctor recommended because it was irritating once I took the tape off. I am currently wear a front-zip up sports bra that is working very well. However, the incisions feel "raw" and uncomfortable. How long do they stay in this state? Also, how long do the scars take to form? I am hoping soon because walking around is not very fun!

every PS seems to have slightly different advice but mine requests that you keep taping the incisions for up to 12 months. the idea is that the tension on the incision sites helps with the scar healing. he recommends just normal micropore 3M tape (the brown stuff). it is easy to use and you can keep it on for up to 2 weeks I have found. i also have liked not looking at what was healing there anyway (!). i have alternated also with the mepiderm silicone sheets which are supposed to help with scar healing (i got the big sheets that you can cut to size).
hi I used vitamin e till the wounds were properly healed then its recommended silicon gel to minimize scars gently rub along the wounds and if you have bruising gently massage it helps to break the hardness and dissolve the bruising goodluck

Tape off!

I took the tape off this morning...what an ordeal. I was so scared to see what was underneath and it was a little painful! I didn't want to rip it off because I was scared a stitch would rip out or open (I'm paranoid) but nothing happened! I'm so happy with how they look. The incisions look much better than I anticipated. On that note, when do scars start to appear? My doctor said they are still incisions, not scars yet!

You appear to be healing beautifully! I'm 6 days PO and still covered in steri-strips/gauze. It's nice to see that I might only have a couple of more days...or week of coverage.
It was so scary but also refreshing to take them off! Congrats on the surgery, I hope you're enjoying them and recovering well! I get a little nervous with the tape off and it brings on a different kind of discomfort, but I'm happy that things are moving forward!
