Bye Bye Balloon
WORTH IT$5,801
Well, I have had the balloon removed at 6 months and 2 weeks. BOO HOO! I already miss the balloon, and honestly feel like I have had a harder time with removal than insertion. I have had a lot of heart burn and burping/gas since having it out. But I assume once my stomach settles down.... all will return to normal.
I really loved having the balloon! I lost 40 lbs, and went down 3 sizes in jeans. I have a slew of fabulous new clothes! I already miss feeling "full" but will say my stomach looks much flatter now that it is out. I am going for a consultation for a tummy tuck to remove the loose skin next week.
This was a really great tool for me, and got my eating back on track. It helped me stay away from carbs... since they essentially made me sick as a dog! Now I am following basically a ketogenic diet and will continue loosing and getting healthier!
I completely recommend the balloon to anyone who needs reset on their eating!

Balloon success & what isn't fun. (Ha!)
Hello! Well... I have about a mont left on my Orbera. I have lost 42 lbs & am so sad to see it go. I had thought about a sleeve to make it permanent, but I have decided I don't want to alter my organs like that.
I have lord my balloon & it has REALL helped me with portion control. It has also helped me reduce the carbs in my diet!
Here is what I don't love:
Burping & passing gas ... but it usually means I am something I shouldn't.
Looking like a little bit of a pregnant person now that I have lost more belly weight.
I can't eat an rice, not even in a sushi roll because it absolutely expands & blows up!
I can't do certain ab work because the balloon is in the way or uncomfortable.
I can't eat ANY red meat. I can't digest it & it comes right back up. So it's been a lot of chicken!
My neck and belly are kind of mooshy! I am going to be a tummy tuck for certain and maybe a neck lift. But I'm glad to have no more double chin!

Am getting my balloon put in tom any suggestion getting it done at strax in fort lauderdale by dr choi
I would say take it nice and slow when you start eating again, or you might have some serious regret. And if you can make it past week 1 & 2 you will be golden! ;-) I really have loved mine!
Can you tell me what surgeon you used in STL?

I love my balloon.... and am now considering a sleeve to make it permanent.
So I am STILL loving my balloon. My weight loss has kind of stopped, but I am working out a lot and my body is really changing shape. So I am going down in sizes more than pounds at this point. I really love having this small stomach and not having to eat very much to be full, so I am considering when I have the balloon out in October, having my stomach sleeved so it would be more permanent. I guess that's the scariest decision, and then hoping that you don't have long term issues after it's done.

My weight loss stopped at 3 months. I'm too small now to consider the sleeve. I'm trying to keep losing by exercise and diet, but it's tough. Scale is slow to move down!
If you cash pay, they don't care your BMI. I am too low of a BMI for it as well, but if insurance isn't involved you are all good! ;-)
Me too! I don't go fast but in general I loose weight small steps.. October it must be removed... I still need to loose 20kg ! I think I need at least 2 times extra the balloon to get there...
I need to loose still another 30 at least... if they would let me keep the balloon for a year, I would get there! Grrrr! ;-)
Mine comes out in three weeks ☹️So sad! I loved having it . I'm down almost 60 lbs. best thing I ever did for myself .. took lots of effort and control but I did it . My weekly or bimonthly apt with my nutritionist kept me accountable . Good luck to all of you !
I hear you! I have a month as well.... I really have loved it!
I struggled so much with this balloon,,,first week was great..then the nausea set in and lasted about a month, then the horrible heartburn constantly for the next three months,,not able to exercise because even a simple walk around the block would bring up a horrible episode. 3 weeks ago the heartburn vanished completely felt like a new person, was able to get on the elliptical, go for walks, yoga.....the all of a sudden, this past weekend the heartburn returns full force,,.I'm not ready to give up and I really don't want to have it removed yet,,,,only down 24 lbs, but nothing lost for the past 3 months...I'm lost
I'm sorry you have had a hard time ! I have mine removed in two weeks , and have loved it . I guess we are all different and never know how something is going to work . 24 lbs is a good start , keep positive and if the ballon doesn't work , something else might . Good luck friend...
I got stuck at 3 months too! I am a 40 something, so I do hormone replacement. Hormones are stored in the fat cells, so they do get completely messed up at you loose. I ran my blood and sure enough I had ZERO estrogen and low progesterone. My Dr. changed my medicine and back to loosing I went!
I'm getting ready to have my balloon placed and went on to sign my consent forms to hear that there has been a warning placed on these balloons . This is because 5 people have died recently that had balloons. Now I'm scared and not sure I want to do it
I can see how people maybe get so sick the first few days out.... dehydration. It's a lot of "heaving" because your body wants to throw up that balloon. They warned me and told me to take tiny sips of water 24/7. My husband is a Doctor, so I was lucky and I had IV's at home.
