36 Female, Needing Reconstructive Surgery on my Nose - Sacramento, CA

Had a collapse on one side of my nostril tip area that the doc had noticed during our last consult / breathing problems
WORTH IT$7,500
I am too nice of a person and could not give a bad review until I realized someone else could be effected.
I'm not happy! My radix was never address and my tip fell on one side.
The surgeon does not put you completely out during the surgery (twilight) and I did wake up to him hamming and sawing on my face. I thought it would of been worth it (waking up during surgery), if my nose would of came out OK. I never mentioned any of this before because my nose was so swollen for so long, I could not see the final results. I have been struggling so much, I just thought I would never get on here again!
I had two surgeries with this surgeon and I still have many issues, including not being able to breath like I did before the surgery. I didn't want to leave a bad review even though I wasn't happy, but it's not far to others who might run into the same situation! I will be 50 before I can get my collapsed side fixed and my uneven radix address, plus my breathing. Never ask for your nose to be smaller, I thinks its never a good idea. I just wish surgeons would tell you that it might effect your breathing and opted not to do it! Not happy with many things! Please be careful!

I had surgery with Dr. Kaniff in 2014. It has been the biggest regret of my life so far. I had a horrible outcome with him. Since then, I've had two revisions (with a different surgeon)I to try to fix but I still feel worse than when I started all this. Good luck to you....

I appreciate you coming in recently to discuss your concerns. I’m happy to see how well your nose has done after revision rhinoplasty. After reviewing the before and after photos as well as your concerns, I’m happy that you are pleased with your result and have given us permission to use your photos. Again, it was nice seeing you and keep in touch.

Tip nostril collapsed on right side.
Now that the swelling is gone it is obvious something went wrong with my tip. I was told my radix could not be fixed so my bridge is still uneven, my sunglasses always look crooked and now my tip is off. The right side of my tip including the nostril has collapsed. It appears to be lower and off center. When I smile the collapsed side goes up more than the other side. When I cough it pulls downward. My point on the tip of my nose is heavier on the right side making my center of my nose to seem more left with a heavier right side. After all the healing, I am not happy. I have had two cyst on the left side of my nose, that show more now after both surgeries (because my nose is smaller). I was told we should leave those alone. I need to know if and how the cyst can be removed. My nose looked great when I had swelling! All I wish for is a somewhat even nose. I also need to be put all the way out during anesthesia, because I remember a lot of the surgery in "twilight state", and I am resistant to the benzodiazepines they give me for "twilight state", because I have been taking them for a long time. After the first night after surgery with no sleep and a large amount of benzo's in my system, I was up for 3 days. I had to be hospitalized, because of the lack of sleep. I'm at a loss on what else to say. I will not change my review because I know things can happen, it doesn't matter what doctor you see. But I am very depressed and not very hopeful at the moment.

it is not that obvious and your nose still looks good, but it can be seen for someone who is especially looking at your nose. Did this happen after 3 years post op? however you look good anyway :)

Thank you for sharing the circumstances of your recovery. I had an unsuccessful corrective nose surgery with a plastic surgeon (not an ENT) in April of this year. I don't have photos posted as of yet. Just researching a couple of ENT/reconstructive plastic surgeons who specialize in reconstruction of the nose and related areas around the nose. I will keep you posted. Are the "cysts" hard? The only reason I ask is if they are hard, they could be cartilage spurs or "bossae's". I have always had one in the tip area of my nose since a childhood injury and it should have been removed during my surgery but the doctor left it there, instead, twisting my columela up and to the right as a short-cut to bring what he thought would be symmetry. Again, thanks for sharing.

Just read your review but I looked at your photos first! And thought wow you look amazing -your profiles are great so straight and the last photo where you compare is also so good. But that was a year ago. Really sad for you if it didn't stay like that as it looks great in the photos. I'm in need of revision but afraid. I know you are depressed but has there been any improvement in your eyes or not?

Hi could you share pictures? Your nose looked great. I can't believe you are going through this now after the swelling is gone. I'm sorry. I hope it gets better.

Did you have grafts? If so, were they from rib or ear? I need grafting for my revision, and that terrifies me...how was the pain from the graft sites?

My doctor use the tissue from the bulbous tip part of my nose to fill areas. It was perfect because he made my tip smaller. He had a lot to work with, my nose was really bulbous. I did not have much pain with the surgery at all!

There are some greedy unethical surgeons out there tell you anything and can’t deliver and they know this but hey it’s a living to them forget about his they ruin your life some if them actually don’t care! My surgeon completely messed my nose up it was finesse surgery that went horribly wrong. I git a full refund but that’s beside the point! She ruined my looks! Unforgivable in my opinion. The best advice ever is to never proceed with a rhinoplasty 95% in my opinion are not good at this operation! Save your money and life live! I don’t enjoy doing anything nor as so self conscious about my nose!
