Happiness Didn't Last...
WORTH IT$10,500
It has been 4 years since my face lift and 3 years since I had facial fat transfer. The muscles in my neck going back behind my ears is so tight, at times I feel like hands are squeezing my neck. Despite how tight the muscles are, the skin of my lower face is sagging, the jowls are returning and the area around my mouth feels very full and thick. The fat transfer procedure was done by the same doc who did the face lift. Within a couple days an abscess developed. In the treatment to drain the abscess, they had to press on and manipulate the area of the transfer. After that healed, the areas on either side of my mouth seemed to be pulled down, and the thickness of skin and tissue on both sides made it difficult to speak. I felt the fat had migrated but the doc dismissed the idea. He said the fat stays where he puts it, but I know now there are professionals who believe it can migrate. Since the condition occurred right after the fat transfer, and nothing else had changed, I believe it was in fact the transfer procedure that led to the problem which persists to this day. I work from home so I don't have to be around people very often, but when I do go out I am very self conscious about not being able to always speak clearly. Secondarily, the doc used fat from just below the navel. This tightened/reduced the area where the fat was removed which caused the skin above the navel to hang over, so now there is a flap of skin that hangs over the waist of any pants and bulges out in a form fitting dress. I sometimes use pre-cut KT tape strips to hold it in as much as possible. All in all, while I was satisfied with the face lift in the beginning, since the fat transfer things have gone downhill. We don't think about what could go wrong because we are so hopeful that we will get the results we want so desperately. Then when the outcome is bad and we are stuck with a situation that can't be fixed, it is just devastating.
