I will be four weeks post op in two days. Have been behaving as though I never had surgery. Just came back from a four day national conference in Long Beach which was fabulous but I'm exhausted. But I am healing well just the annoying swelling. My doctor says I can color my hair at four weeks but I'm not sure I want to risk it. My right side is still scabbed over a lot. Someone asked me about the incisions in my brow and hair loss so here are close ups for her and anyone else who is interested. The hair loss has now tapered off and I have some really spiky spots in some of the incision areas that I believe are new hair trying to grow in so that is encouraging.

I wouldn't color just yet - it looks like an open wound behind your ear. Was there a drain there? What has PS said about that? Your brow lift incisions look - behind ear seems to need a little more time, should that be covered? Good luck

If you go to a professional to get your hair colored I would be shocked if she did it -- if you do at home --- not yet - sorry

Hi Sundragon-It's Lexi8876. We were in touch a few weeks back since we both had similar procedures at the same time more or less.I'm 4 weeks post op tomorrow 2/12. I did not experience hair loss at all but I'm dying to color my hair!!! I still have a few scabs by my ears that sort of opened very slightly after the old skin fell off-I had a little pus come out but cleaned it up with peroxide & polysporin and both sites seem to be back on track although scabby so too soon to color hair. I'm wondering if you feel like most of the fat is already absorbed? I think I looked better 2 wks ago. I really want to have fraxel or similar laser in a few months since I don't have great skin (large pores, an acne scar, freckles, a few deeper wrinlkles, some fine) & I think that will really improve things. I still have that yellowish tinge under my eyes, one more than the other but all bruising & I think all swelling is long gone. Just afraid with I'm going to look jowly & hollow again :(. How is your donor site? My thighs were used since I'm very thin & have no belly fat. Man, they are tender! Would love to continue to compare results as we both progress. I would say it took me 3.5 wks to resume my normal stamina.

Hi Lexi!! So nice to hear from you. He took the fat from right below my belly button and I told them when they were doing it to feel free to take lots more lol. So far I love it I still have a tiny bit of red-purple bruising under both eyes but they aren't rock hard anymore and I think I look wonderful. I never really minded the marionette lines but since they were at it they did those too and I have no complaints. For the fat graft I think it takes awhile to know if it is going to stay so I don't want to be too optimistic too soon. My belly is tender but it comes and goes and I don't notice it much anymore but I'm wearing mostly dresses or leggings. I don't think you will look jowly again by I will go check out your review again. I have been slow to get my energy back too I overdid it at the conference but had the time of my life doing it lol

Thank you yes I've been living it up and guess what?! Guys notice me again. I felt like I had become the invisible woman before this. Not that I'm looking for dates it's just nice to not be invisible.

I think you are right and yes that's where drains were. He said it would be fine just earn them about that one spot and cover it. If I don't see vast improvement in next 48 hours I will just get it cut.

Hi it's been awhile so here are some updated pics. Looking back on this experience there are several things I didn't expect so I thought I would share them for others. These are just my opinions based on my experiences so maybe not everyone will or has experienced these but here they are. I did not expect to lose so much hair. I should state that I have always had a lot of hair, everyone remarks upon it, so don't be too freaked out by the amount in the pics, but seriously, it was a lot of hair and it just kept coming out every time I washed it. Last night was the first night it was a more normal amount and my wonderful Dr. Green says it's normal and will grow back. But I think you should know you will lose some because it's attached to skin they are going to remove, but also I lost a lot I think just from the shock. Let's see, what else? Oh, beware the pain pills. I never understood all the fuss about constipation until it happened to me and it was desperate times let me tell you. I had to run to the drug store when I wasn't prepared to go anywhere for some emergency medication. Stay away from salt! Did you know soup is loaded with sodium? Yep, bad news there. Swelling has been a problem and it's very uncomfortable. Could care less about the bruises, they go away pretty quick and makeup covers most of it. Believe me it's the swelling that's going to get to you. Sorry I have not been blogging about this regularly because I'm sure there's more I'm already forgetting but these were the main things I have to share.

Thank you so much for sharing. I still think your results look great. I don't notice much swelling. Once your bruises are completely gone, you won't need to wear anymore make-up!

You are looking great, once the swelling goes away you will love what you see - beatiful woman with lovely profile. The amount of hair loss is a bit frightening especially if someone (me) has little to start with. Soup and anything canned has soooo much sodium even in the "less sodium" types. It's always best to make your own (if you can) or broth has major amounts of sodium. I've been watching salt intake and it is amazing the amount of sodium in processed foods, I often wonder how they manage to get any food in the box/can with so much salt. Salt/sodium hides everywhere so we all must be careful when stocking up for post-op. Something I've noticed is that sometimes the less popular brands have less fat and sodium then name brands and "organic/natural" type of foods. Ensure can also have a lot of sodium-read the labels. Back to post op results, it seems that most swelling moves from one place to another, up or down but eventually goes away totally. Congratulations in a fantastic recovery - now when you pass a mirror or see your reflection in a window you can think "you go girl" LOL

That is a lot of hair, mine is fine too but luckily nothing lost so far. Like imaging boomer I have been utterly shocked by the sodium in some products, I don't normally look at that part of labels. You are looking wonderful, chin and jaw are just beautiful

Thank you yes thanks to all the positive support on this website and time I'm feeling more and more confident every day. For all, once I figured out how much sodium I had unintentionally been consuming, I switched to mainly smoothies that I make at home or donned dark glasses and went to jamba juice. they're so good for you anyway and you can't do much chewing when you're just post op. Oh and oatmeal had been my friend too!

Thanks Maria! I noticed it right away as soon as I was able to wash it, so about four days post op. Weird but luckily I have lots

I had a face lift a couple years back and my hair did not grow back. The area where men start pattern baldness looks just like that and the temple areas r definitely thinner. I used to have lots of hair and with age it got finer and now thinner in surgery areas. Good luck, I hope it was just my body reaction.

Thank you for responding. Have you tried any remedies to regrow in those areas? I see commercials all the time now for something called keranique - wonder if it works.

Day 12 - Assymetrical fears

S
sundragon36
I'm now at Day 12. Tried the makeup myself this time. I'm not too good at the concealer but that's why I'm practicing. I'm getting a bit concerned about the differences which I think are pretty obvious between my left and right cheekbones. I'm hoping that this is just that I'm more swollen on one side than the other, but concerned that It's just pulled too tight on one side. Anyone have similar experiences?

I would try and wait before you get too worried!! Yes, I see the asymetry, but that is so normal! You are still very early in your healing process. I have asymetry, too and I have watched it kinda go back and forth. The swelling and the healing move along at their own pace. You are going to be beautiful - I can see it already.

You are still really early days and could be having asymmetrical swelling for sure. I think you look beautiful overall! Do you know how long your surgery lasted?

Thanks Angie I'm guessing around six hours. I went in right at 7am and they took me in right away and I went home around 4pm assuming some of that time was in recovery. I'm trying to be positive overall I think it looks amazing I just was not prepared to go back to work looking fake. The swelling is getting better just very slowly.

To soon my dear --- I think as time goes on we think - my god -- how fast we wanted to be healed in two weeks and out the door. It's just not going to happen - for the majority of us --- it's probably one side still more swollen than the other side --- might be the way you sleep --- even if propped up - you may lay your head more to one side. Again --- way to soon -- hang in there ---- I know it's tough - crap I didn't leave the house for 3 weeks

Yes I think you are right and thank you for your interest and support!

I have to agree with other comments regarding it is too soon to worry. Of course, if you have general fears please contact your PS that is what he is there for. If you have read other reviews you will see that usually one side is more swollen than the other. One day it may be the left and two days later it has moved to the right or down the neck. We all want instant healing but unfortunately that doesn't happen. Follow your PS instructions, relax, have a good outlook and you'll be fine. Patience will win out in the end. Continued good luck in your recovery.
