WORTH IT
I'm 47 years old, 5'4 1/2 inches and 145 pounds. I've wanted/needed this surgery for some time. My family didn't want me to risk my life for this, so I chickened out 3 years ago. Today I am 1 day postop, having had my breast reduction yesterday. I was a 34H and have no idea what size I'm going to end up. Bandage and tubes come out Monday the 24th of Feb. I'm going to attempt to upload my before pics. I was on here before but I messed up and had real head shots with pics of myself so started over.

So far, so good. Dr. Vento is a nice doctor who speaks clearly about what to expect and the risks involved. Day 3 postop Dr. Vento pulled my drains out. I was happy to see the results. I felt like he listened to me. I told him "take no prisoners" in deciding how small to go. I didn't want to stay on the bigger side. I already feel relief in my neck and back. An added bonus I didn't count on was that I look thinner. Just grateful everything went and is going as planned. I go in Monday for my 10 days post op check up but so far my healing seems uneventful.

Thank you BobbiLou. I have been pleasantly surprised. Today is my 3rd day postop and I got the drains out this morning. I think that was the most pain I've felt so far, although I'm no martyr, I took the pain meds the first couple of days. I just have to keep in mind that although I feel fine, my body is still recovering. I don't want to mess anything up by overdoing it. So happy my preop pictures/review finally showed up!!!!

So happy I took the plunge. I got to "see" the girls for the first time this morning. Next time I shower, I plan to take some postop pics, although I know they won't look the same weeks or months from now. Already no neck pain! Hallelujah. I was a 34H which I know is not as big as some but I can tell the difference already. My equilibrium is better I think too!

Today's progress has been good. Day 3 postop. Drains out, showered, put all the padding and gauze back on with the surgery bra and just chilled out. Trying to remember NOT to do stuff, even though I feel good.

Thanks so much. Honestly I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my chest, both literally and figuratively. HA! BR humor! BUT REALLY!

So happy. Will be happier when the swelling goes down more I'm sure. Also happy I told my PS to "take no prisoners" instead of keeping me on the larger side. My husband, who LOVED my before girls, said I look thinner, more proportional. I can tell he is experiencing some grief though when I catch him look over at me. He told me the profile view is really where he noticed it. I have not shown him the true after yet. He's only seen me in a bra. I don't want to freak him out with the bruising and he gets queasy.

Today marked my 3rd day post op. Got the tubes out this morning and got my first look at my new, much smaller (YEY) boobs. I was grateful people on here told me to take my pain meds before the appointment. They were right, getting the drains pulled hurt a bit! I have a lot of bruising which I of course expected but so far, I'm happy with the results.

What type of procedure did you have done? I am a similar size and am really having trouble debating in procedure. Surgery is Thursday and am on an emotional roller coaster

I had a BR and lift. PS used the anchor style where the nipple stays attached.

On a side note, you'll be surprised that your weight actually goes up after surgery but it is to be expected. You are so swollen and bloated and probably won't go to the restroom for a couple of days. Just something I thought about. I didn't really feel any need to lose weight except for upstairs! I'm not one of the ladies that lost her appetite following surgery either. I've been eating meals since I could, but I did start out slowly just in case with homemade chicken noodle soup I'd frozen ahead of time and lots of saltines.

Surgery is Thursday and your doctor should have explained what procedure would work best for you. Wishing you all the best!
