I am a petite little lady at 5'1 and a pre op...

I am a petite little lady at 5'1 and a pre op weight 102 pounds. In 2011 I gave birth to my son who was 11 pounds 14.9 ounces.. and lets be real, you can't come back from that. While I was able to get my weight down rather quickly I was left with a body that was very different. I had the sad mom boobs and of course a lot of saggy skin in my belly. I thought about it every day for two years and decided I needed to do something about it because it was affecting my self confidence. I hid my body under layers of clothes and was embarrassed to show my husband. I felt as if I'd gotten off pretty lucky regarding my saggy skin, I've seen a lot worse. I didn't have many stretch marks either. I decided to schedule a consultation with Dr. Scott Green because my sister in law had gone to him for an augmentation and had fantastic results.

I had my consultation at Dr. Greens Sacramento office. During my consult Dr. Green suggested a lift on my left breast along with the augmentation. I also asked to have the loose skin on my abdomen nipped and he agreed that it was a simple non invasive procedure and it was my understanding we could use my c-section scar.

I had a few hiccups before surgery. I found his patient care coordinator "Kelly" to be a little cold and hard to get a hold of and I had credit card fraud after paying the anesthesia place, but that could have honestly been from anywhere but it was a hassle so I thought I'd mention it.

I had my pre-op appointment in his Roseville office, which is much closer to my house. The staff at Roseville are much more welcoming than the ladies at his Sacramento office. Upon taking my pre-op photos Dr. Green recommended a Full Tummy Tuck. I was caught off guard because at my consult, he seemed ok with less than a mini. I told him I would let Kelly know when I made a decision. From what I saw on this site, I knew I couldn't have that long of a recovery as my husband and I run our own business and we have a 2 year old. Although we are leaning towards only having one, I also didn't a full TT because I didn't want to completely rule out more children. I called Kelly and let her know I wasn't going to go through with a Full.

Day of surgery and I was obviously nervous. I guess I am the type of person that likes a little hand holding in a medical setting, but the woman who called me back, was unfriendly. However the nurse that attended to me from that point on was very nice. They put my IV in with a little difficulty because I'm a tough stick. I got to meet with my anesthesiologist and discuss my issues with nausea. He put a patch behind my ear which was a god send when I woke up and it lasted for about three days. They also prescribed me zofran sub-lingual tablets and they really helped me get through my recovery. Finally I was with Dr. Green and he started drawing lines. He asked me what bothers me the most and I told him my loose skin. Then I was lead into the OR and before I knew it, it was lights out.

I woke up in unbelievable pain. Pain pain pain. I woke up with a classic tummy tuck scar which I was surprised by but no one had said anything to my husband or my family. I couldn't even focus on that though because of the pain. Luckily my mother brought over a recliner and let me tell you, that thing was a god send!!! I'm at three weeks post op and I still use it. The next day, I had to go back down to the Sacramento office for a follow up. It was a rough drive and I saw another doctor. He said things were good and I had a follow up with Dr. Green in Roseville for the following Monday - again I was not given any details about my surgery. I kept thinking, if this is what a mini feels and looks like, I don't even want to imagine the full!

At my second post op, my medical assistant informed me that I had in fact had a full tummy tuck, which by now I suspected. I met with Dr. Green briefly and he explained to me that things just we'rent lining up properly so he made the decision to give me a full TT. I respected his decision, but when "the TT depression" hit, I resented him for a few days. After a lot of thought, I agree with his decision, but I found it extremely disappointing that my family was NEVER informed that I had a very invasive surgery, I was given NO after care instructions and I was just over all unprepared mentally for the extent of my recovery. I had virtually no post-op support from his staff.

I called the Roseville office a few days ago with a post op question and was transferred to the Sacramento office. It was 5:02 pm and the woman who picked up was extremely rude demanding to know how I got through because they'd already turned on the night phone system.

I do think that he made the right decision, I know I wouldn't have been happy if he'd left me looking half done. He is an incredible surgeon, and although I had a bumpy ride, I'd trust him again and his work is impressive. Most reviews I've read, and people I know didn't experience the things I did regarding his staff. I trust Dr. Green and I think he did a great job.
