After I hit 40 I had decided to have surgery to remove excess skin on my eyelids which was making me look older and tired, when in fact I was neither. I did extensive online research and met several plastic surgeons but eventually settled on Marc Pacifico because he seemed to be the most confident and friendly, and the procedure was not as expensive as I had anticipated. The surgery itself is uncomfortable of course, because you are going under the knife, and you do only have local anaesthetic. But it is not painful at all and Marc and his assistant Sue were extremely attentive and made the experience as pleasant as they possibly could. Because Marc is so experienced it was over in 30 minutes; I was patched up with a few unnoticeable sutures and skin closures and I was good to go. I was able to recover for as long as I needed in the clinic with a nice cup of tea, then I collected my eye drops and creams I would need for the next few weeks' aftercare and I went home. The hardest thing to remember is to keep your eyes above the level of your heart to prevent bruising and bleeding which makes it hard to sleep, but that only lasts a week or so and you do get used to it. Before long, especially once you've had the stitches removed, you forget you have had surgery at all. There is some mild redness which looks a bit like sunburn for another few weeks but no-one noticed unless I pointed it out. Provided you keep up the scar maintenance you should not have any noticeable scars at all and in time they dissipate completely. I now have a marked improvement in my eyelid shape and structure, giving me a "refreshed" look. Someone even kindly said, without knowing I had had the procedure, that I looked 10 years younger than when he last saw me. Now that is a good endorsement!
