Well the attachments that the doctor put on are awful. Not only are they stupid looking but they hurt my lips and snag my skin. Not only are they awful with the aligners on but when I take them up to eat it's like having pieces of sharp glass shards scratching my upper lip. I'm so pissed!!! I think it might have been my doctor who didn't take the time to smooth anything out. Also I had a 3D imaging done with invisilign software atanlther debtist. This dentist did not use any software. I thought that was very weird. I'm starting to regret this $3,000 I spent. More than anything I'm in tears trying to eat or talk without the aligners, it's not easier with them in either. Painful because of the attachments.

I don't know about the dentist. It seems like she put the attachments on fast and didn't try to soften them so I wouldn't have busted and bloody lips and cheeks.

I took a nail file and filed my attachments smooth. Mine felt like sharp glass as well. When I eat I have to put wax on the attachment, and yes I sometimes swallow it.

I'm sorry to hear this. I'm on my 3rd tray but had two weeks without attachments so this is the first time with attachments. Mine aren't too bad although I have around 25 on my teeth. I read up lot about the attachments and quizzed my dentist. She confirmed that they can feel sharp for the first tray but you mouth gets used to them. She suggested dental Wax on the sharp bits and file down sharp edges on the Aligners. Oh and a soft food diet to save chewing. I did a lot of research before Invisalign so I was prepared for the discomfort. What I found was that whatever Aligner1 I chose I would have sores and pain. Hope things improve for you soon and o back to your dentist and ask for help.

Listen, I feel for you. I am on my third set of trays and I have 18 attachments and feel the same thing that you feel. However, I have come to realize that these are first world problems we are all having. I had this conversation with myself a couple weeks ago when I was having a pity party. We CHOSE to do this, no one held us down and put these things on our teeth and her forcing us to wear them. We wanted to do this for whatever result we are expecting. It's ridiculous as adults to be whining about straightening her teeth. So either do it or don't do it and if you do it commit to it. Is it going to be uncomfortable yes - is it going to be a pain in the ass yes - do other people notice it and think it looks stupid? No, not as much as you do. Your friends who know you well will notice but strangers on the street or in class with you or whatever they will have no clue nor do they really care you are the one who notices it the most and thinks it's the biggest deal when it's really not. Just keep wearing them it will get better and if you quit now you'll regret. It.

Really Regretting Invisilign I Think I Might Ask for a Refund

I'm in so much pain. I ripped two attachments off and had to melt the tray near the gum line because my tongue is so cut up. I'm only on day two and all day I was so tense from the pain of the attachments cutting into my lips that I couldn't even concentrate. I had to leave the gym early to get in my car and take them out for a quick relief. I can't see myself doing these another day let alone 6 months. I can't eat without my eyes tearing up.

I feel badly for you. Mine were so sharp I was back same day getting attachments smoothed out. I read on here about emery board filing a tiny bit for sharp tray. I'm on Day 9 of Tray 1. Often want to quit but really trying to envision beautiful, white teeth afterwards with no overbite! I'm 55, so finally taking care of myself after kids grown & out. :))

I feel the same way you do. I am on tray 7 of 28 and I don't know how I've endured this far. Only 1/4 of the way through. The tray edges are SO sharp. I bought a dremel to try and file down the edges but it doesn't really help. It just roughs them up. When I got my second set of trays I mentioned how sharp they were and the assistant filed them down but did a horrible job. Most of them are worse than before, and she took SO much off I'm afraid they won't even work. I'm just desperate for relief from the constant pain. The only way I survive is I put wax on them 24/7. Then I just have to deal with a mouthful of awful wax. I kind of wish I just got regular braces.

How is it going? Is it getting any better? For sure if your attachments came off you need to go back and have them put back in place. I m sure that every person is different but in my case the worst part of the pain occurred the first week with the attachments. Are you seeing an orthodontist or a dentist? How much experience does he/she have with Invisalign? In my case they first started me without attachments for the first two trays, then added the attachments. On occasion I get the tray with the sharp edges too but I file it a bit and then I m ok. I am tray 22 and everything has gone pretty smoothly. I hope things will get better for you and you'll manage to push through this phase

Goodness gracious, you’re being a little dramatic. I understand your pain, but you just have to wait until your mouth adjusts. Braces are painful. Imagine metal braces, they are like having a mouth full of attachments, but the skin on the inside of your mouth adjusts.
