Beyond Frustrated Until I Found Dr. Boulden & The Atlanta Dental Spa (The Best Cosmetic Dentist Period)! - Roswell, GA

Like many other patients, my crooked and stained...

WORTH IT
Like many other patients, my crooked and stained teeth had bothered me for quite some time. My goal was to replace my upper teeth with porcelain veneers. Having lived in Atlanta for a number of years, I would frequently see the advertisements of a prominent cosmetic dentist here in town. Having celebrities, entertainers, and sports figures as clientele can go a long way in marketing and it certainly swayed my decision to go with this particular cosmetic dentist. If you are considering making this investment, PLEASE, PLEASE do yourself a favor, do your homework and research your dentists carefully before making your ultimate decision.

At first, I had a good feeling about the dentist that I had chose. However, that feeling had changed soon after my procedure began. One of my biggest complaints about this particular cosmetic dentistry practice was the lack of face-time and actual interaction with the cosmetic dentist who administers the procedure. I feel that if you are making a substantial financial investment and you are putting your trust in this professional's hands, in return, you should get the quality and care from the Doc that you came to see!

I never felt this way with this first dental practice. After my first set of temporaries were placed, I had a number of questions and concerns in which the dentist answered, but I never felt 100% confident with the appearance of the temporaries. I had voiced my concerns about the temps before moving forward with the veneers. After the veneers were placed, I was unhappy with the outcome. Although it was a vast improvement from where I began, It was not the outcome that I had hoped for. After this first procedure, I voiced my disappointment to the cosmetic dentist and from that point forward, I had NO further communication with this dentist whatsoever! However, this dental practice agreed to re-do my veneers at no cost and with every question, or concern that I had raised before the 2nd set of veneers were placed, my questions were answered and handled by the Doctor's consultant, not the Doctor! This was extremely frustrating and annoying! I wanted to speak with and ask these questions directly to the DENTIST, not their consultant. Again, I feel that if you spend this type of money, you should receive a higher level of service and at least have your questions answered by the professional who's name is on the door! I believe the Doctor should be available for their patients and stand by them from start to finish through this procedure. This certainly was not the case with my experience!

After the 2nd set of veneers were placed with this dental firm, I initially thought the teeth looked OK, however the veneers did not look the same as the temporaries. What really frustrated me was the fact that I had told them NOT to change anything when they create the porcelain veneers, but rather make porcelains exactly like the last temps. One tooth in particular bothered me right away and I let them know this as well. As time went on, I grew to dislike this second set of veneers more and more. The tipping point was when one of my close friends (who did not not know I had the procedure done) said my teeth looked fake and that they looked like chiclets! Wow!

At this point, I was beyond frustrated and angry with my situation. I decided that if I can afford it and find the right cosmetic dentist to help me with my case, then I would move forward with a 3rd procedure. So I began researching other cosmetic dentists locally and nationally (an exercise in which I should've done from the very beginning) and thankfully found the Atlanta Dental Spa and the exceptionally talented and caring Dr. Boulden. All I can say is that Dr. Boulden is the man! Had I been wise enough to visit and consult with Dr. Boulden from the very start, I would've avoided so much stress, trauma to my teeth and I would've saved a ton of money!! (Dr. Boulden and the Atlanta Dental Spa is actually much cheaper than the first dentist that I had visited). After meeting with Dr. Boulden and his staff, I immediately felt at ease and confident that I had found the best cosmetic dentist possible and even better yet, he was right here in Atlanta. It's no surprise that every review I've ever read about Dr. Boulden is positive and this just speaks to his professionalism and care that he takes with his patients. Also, the interactions I had with Dr. Boulden's staff, his hygienists, Jenny and Debbie in particular, were great and they are just as warm and caring for their patients as well.

I am so thankful that I had found Dr. Boulden and that he was able to give me the smile that I had always hoped for! I am now so happy with my outcome and the appearance of my teeth and smile. I believe Dr. Boulden is truly gifted and cannot thank him enough for restoring my confidence. I also really appreciate his bedside manner and that he was by my side through the entire step of this process(he actually called me after hours to check up on me, making sure I was ok). If you're reading this, please do not make the mistake that I made. You can save so much time, money, pain and stress by making the right decision the first time! Do your homework, read the reviews, visit and consult with as many cosmetic dentists that you feel necessary and you too will realize that Dr. Boulden and the Atlanta Dental Spa are the best.

It looks very nice. The first set was nice too. My question is, Did you get your retainer right away?? I am having to wait 2 weeks and I feel like my teeth or veneers are moving in only a week. Thanks :)
June 5, 2015
Thank you. I was never given a retainer to wear with my veneers, but instead I was given a night guard mouthpiece to eliminate grinding while you sleep(I hope this answers your question?). And I would let your Dentist know about your teeth movement question.

Thank You. Did you at least get the night guard the day you got the veneers on or did you have to wait? Ye I will tell my Dentist that I think they are moving. It seems like I should have got SOMETHING the day OF, Do you agree? I had to to the process TWICE. The first ones by one Dentist was too big and he could have fixed my nice teeth with ONE veneer but instead ground my teeth off. Typical LAS VEGAS. I lived in ATL for Many years.....BUCKHEAD and I miss it. Thank You Again. :)

No problem, yes I did get my night guard on the same day my veneers were completed. Best of luck with your new veneers!

I would be interested to learn who the first dentist was......I encountered similar scenario in north Atlanta area w/cosmetic dentist that resulted in a poor experience....the dentist rushed the procedure, very little interaction etc......your description sounds very familiar..... I am considering requesting 2nd attempt, re-do

Thank you for this post I am getting my veneers redone on the 22nd ... How do your teeth feel after getting the redo. I'm so worried that my teeth will become more sensitive and painful :-..( but I can't live the rest of my life with these horrifying veneers

I'm sorry to hear that you had a similar bad experience with your veneers...I'm currently wearing my 3rd set in less than 12 months and thankfully I now have no pain. However, 1.5 to 2 months post op after my 3rd set, I did have some pain and sensitivity in my back teeth(molars I believe), but that has now completely gone away. My back teeth were also very temperature sensitive up until about 2 months post op, but thankfully that has gone away as well. I have read that this is not uncommon even after one procedure and my Doc seconded this statement as well. I also had the same fear (pain & teeth sensitivity) as you do leading up to my last procedure, but thankfully my first dentist as well as Dr. Boulden did not unnecessary grind down any more than they had to. If I can offer you any advice I would say that if you have any fears about your dentist, or if you're not confident with their ability, I would make sure you find the right one before taking the next step. Best of luck to you!

I completely understand and feel for you. Glad to hear that you found a second Dentist that you have confidence with. Be extremely specific when you communicate with your Dentist. You'll be much happier once you get the 2nd set completed! All the best!!

They look so natural! I'm considering getting veneers and am very concerned about the thickness. My friend has them and although they are sized properly in my opinion they are too thick, almost like puppet teeth. But your After picture is EXACTLY what I'm looking for! They look great!
June 20, 2015
Thank you so much, very kind! Through my experience I learned that all veneers are not created equal, and neither are the cosmetic dentists...If you're considering veneers, please do your homework and research the cosmetic dentists carefully as well as their practice (as much as possible) to find the one that your most confident with. Even if you find a Doc that's not in your hometown and you have to travel to see them, the travel expense and inconvenience is such a small detail to ultimately get what your after...the best result! I don't know where you are located, but if you're in the southeast, I would definitely call and have a consultation with Dr. Boulden. Best of luck to you!

Thank you for the advise, Ive been researching for a long time. I now have a more clear idea of what questions I need to ask! I am from South Texas by the way
June 20, 2015
Ok gotcha. It sounds like your doing your research and you know what to ask before making your decision/getting started. All the best!

That is a night and day comparison! Looks fabulous now. How many teeth did you do? Did the Dr. work on your bite? Do you mind saying how $$$?
August 21, 2015
Thank you so much, very kind! I had a total of 12 teeth done and thankfully the Doctor did not have to work on my bite.
