I have been battling in Grown hair for years. I have tried everything from waxing tweezing and medication. Nothing has helped. I have played with the idea of laser hair removal however after reviewing my situation I have decided that electrolysis would be better. I am a darker complexion and with the effected area suffering from sever hyper pigmentation I did not want to risk getting burned (YIKES). I will post before pictures and do weekly updates I will also be posting my videoed journey on YouTube. I will post the link once I have completed editing. Fell free to ask questions

Your pigmentation is that after your first treatment?
April 19, 2017
The pigmentation is a result of tweezing and in grown hairs. I am going for my fourth treatment tomorrow and I will post an update. So far it appears that it has cleared a little but I am using a combination of soaps creams and exfoliating

Does electrolysis works for you??
June 21, 2017
I have read the electrolysis can cause skin discoloration because of the many sessions required so you realized these sessions are definitely worth it?
December 13, 2018
Electrolysis has actually helped my discoloration. Along with using aloe vera, witch hazel and tea tree oil religiously

4th treatment

Reggchambers
Today was my fourth session. So far I believe it is working I am definitely seeing lighter hair and less growth. Here are a few pictures of immediately after my treatment. The first season was short wave (saw some skin irritation afterwards) the second was galvanic (hair seemed to grow back quicker than the first session) the last two have been a blend and that seems to be working fine. After a few more treatments I plan to address the awful hyper pigmentation. I'm considering tca peels or skin bleaching creams. Any suggestions?

Hello. I have tried Kojie San soap. I have been having the same issues with over growth of hair under my chin, I have had less hair bumps and the pigment seems to be getting lighter. Thank you for your posts. I am looking into electrolysis as well.

You could start with a less aggressive acid. I used Glycolic acid on my face. I have no bumps and the hyperpigmentation is fading. Laser does not seem to be working for me.You definitely made the right decision with Electrolysis.

Where did you get your glycolic acid? I did a ton of research asked on my findings laser wasn't permanent so far I'm on my 6th treatment and there is definitely a difference :-) what air comes back is very light.

Yeah try peels and as already stated glycolic acid is great from Body Merry. I got it for like $15 on amazon. You should also hydrate with amlaction lotion, it exfoliates and hydrates. I use it on my butt too.

Please do not even think about doing anything to your skin during this hair removal process. No peels, no bleaching, nothing. This electrolysis journey will take far longer than you can even imagine. This process actually causes damage to the skin and you don't want to make matters worse. Yes, electrolysis damages the skin but with proper care and patience, your skin will heal over time. I started this process 16 months ago and only now do I believe that I and my electrologist are turning the corner and getting the upper hand in the hair removal process. You probably have a lot more hair than you think that you do. This is not a sprint but a journey. Your skin will go through a lot of changes. You will still get ingrown hairs and breakouts, you will experience disappointment and discouragement thinking that you are just wasting your money. You will question the skill of your technician but you must be persistent because this will take a long time. The day after an electrolysis session you may be able to cover some of the damage with lightweight makeup. As a darker skin woman, I use cocoa butter to assist in the healing and lightening of any hyperpigmentation so please, do not use any chemicals. By all means, talk with your technician because she's the expert. I am sure that she will not approve of any chemical peels. Stubborn course hairs may come back several times and may need to be treated again and again before the hair follicle actually dies. I have never posted my experience on any on-line forum but I feel that it is time to share my experience in the hope that it may help someone. If you have questions or just need a shoulder to lean on, I'm here.

Do you feel as if the treatment is worth it? Do you see a great deal of a change after your sessions like are you satisfied now with the results you got
June 21, 2017
I started with electrolysis in February of 2016. I went weekly for an hour faithfully. It is now June 2017 and I can finally say that it works and this thing is finally paying off. I am now going every 2 to 3 weeks but I still get hairs that pop out as soon as I leave the office. I just call my electrologist and she fits me in for maybe 15 minutes to address that. As a matter of fact I went in today for a 15 minute session for $25. I can't stress enough how long this process will take. Again, in the meantime don't do anything else to your precious skin. No peels, no acids. Go with what we know to do for our Black skin. Cocoa butter, aloe vera and maybe use a little Neosporin. Yes I'm becoming satisfied. It's a wonderful thing to go for days without that ugly hair on my face. I too am discolored underneath my neck area but once the hair is under control, the skin will heal and fade back to its natural color. Have patience because there is nothing you can do to speed the process. Take care. Contact me with any of your questions.

Thank you so much for your help! But so you've been going for a whole year!? I thought it only took about 15-30 sessions? Also is a great deal of discoloration like a 5 o clock after shadow?
June 21, 2017
I have hairy cheeks and with going through this process I just don't want to destroy my face or have things look worse so I'm not too sure if I should go with it or not
June 21, 2017
Also is makeup hindering the process?
June 21, 2017
More like 16 months. No honey, it will take a lot more than 15 to 30 sessions. Your electrologist might have to treat hair a number of times before it finally dies. All the while you are growing new hair. No, fortunately I never got that shadow. I might get pinprick brown scabs for a couple of day but keep in mind electrolysis actually damages the skin that's why you have to be careful and gentle with yourself. If you hang in there you may see some results after a year but it takes a long, long time.

Fortunately for me my hair growth is mainly under the chin. I do have a few hairs that might grow above the chin but not many. I have my electrologist target everything. I think that the hair destroys the face especially when that stubborn hair wants to go ingrown. I started with the yag laser and a doctor to destroy the black hair but my facial hair started going gray and the laser was not effective on gray hair. I stopped doing the laser and found a great electrologist who went after both black and gray. Have you tried laser? I would encourage you to beat this problem now before that hair starts going gray as you get older.
June 21, 2017
No not at all. I only wear makeup once a week when I go into my office. On the other days I work from home and do not feel the need to have to wear makeup. When I do apply it, it covers any marks flawlessly. No one would ever know that I'm having those treatments. I would encourage you to do what you have to do now. This problem will not get better on its own. Only worse.

As you stated in your first post, you have been battling this problem for years. Waxing, tweezing, threading all makes matters worse. The hair just becomes more stubborn and resistant to professional removal. It's truly is a battle because the hair just doesn't want to go away without a fight. Educate yourself. Watch videos and read other postings and maybe then you might understand better the hair removal process. It ain't easy and it ain't cheap. But if you want that hair gone, stick with it. Commit to at least a year because honestly that how long this battle might last. Facial hair on a woman is not cute. Don't let this go because like I said, it only gets worse. Wish I had started this process years ago!

Mem 5 hair how much take time
June 22, 2017
Yes I have been looking into both laser hair removal and electrolysis. I definitely want to take care of this problem now just waiting for my funds to get right but also scared I will be doing more harm than good in the process even with professional hair removal. I haven't done any other hair removal methods on my face which will help my process whether I go with electrolysis or laser hair removal I'm sure. I will keep talking with people and researching thank you so much!

So glad to be of help to somebody else that is in the hair removal fight. There is a woman named Eva on you tube at the skin care channel that I learned so much from. The lady knows her stuff and has a wealth of information especially for Black skin. Check her out and go from there. Don't be scared, be informed. Research, research, research I can't stress that enough. You may have to sacrifice and give up some extra cash to get that hair removed but it will be worth it. Nothing can stop a woman from getting what we want. One last thing you need to understand. Your skin might very well take a beating. Some damage may be necessary in order to kill those hair follicles, however, some damage is totally unacceptable. If you decide to go with laser removal you must go to a professional who understands Black skin and will use the right equipment. Laser burns are never acceptable. They have to use the right laser on Black skin. Don't go with the cheapest either. You know that old saying that you get what you pay for. Take good care and ask God to provide this need. He'll make a way. Remember I am here so don't hesitate to keep in touch!
