WORTH IT
After reading so many stories of heartbreak and disappointment I was more than a little nervous to undergo an upper Bleph procedure. After all, you can't put skin back once it's removed. But my upper eyelids were interfering with my peripheral vision so I had to do something.

Dr. Johl is the Ocular Plastics Surgeon provided by my HMO so I was also nervous about that. When it comes to this sort of thing it seems prudent to select someone by reputation more than availability. But I found a couple of reviews on Dr. Johl on this site and they did much to comfort me and give me confidence.

After only 2 weeks I am already singing his praises because of the wonderful work he did on me! I'm shocked at how far I've come in such a short time. I know it will take several months before I'll see the final result and I will update accordingly, but if the early progress is an indication I can tell you than I'll be more than happy with this surgery. If I decide to go ahead with the forehead lift Dr. Johl recommended, I'll for certain sure schedule the surgery with him and no one else!

I've attached a few photos so you can see the before, one week after and this past weekend. I think the reason for the quick recovery is because I was careful to follow all the Dr's instructions. I slept on my back with my head elevated and used a horseshoe travel pillow to keep my head still (still doing this), I was persistent with the ice for 3 full days, I did the hot compress for another 4 days and most of all, I got a LOT of rest.

I appreciate all the support! Thank you so much. newgirl007, Dr. Johl is in Sacramento CA and works for Kaiser. That's an HMO so if you don't have Kaiser you don't get Dr. Johl unfortunately.

Your eyes look amazing! What a nice, conservative, yet beautiful result!

Where in Sacramento is Dr. Johl located?

Your results are very good. In December, too had a good experience with Dr. Johl. I think he does see patients outside of Kaiser.

Mostly smooth sailing... with just a few bumps in the road.

Things are progressing well I think. I'm hoping that the bumpy suture line will even out. It's pretty bumpy in some spots. I've started rubbing the bumps with a little bit of pressure to help break down the scar tissue. I've also started applying Scar Away ointment on my eyelids just before I go to bed. I'm a little worried about it but I won't panic just yet. If they don't begin to change I'll call Dr. Johl and let him have a look.

Those pesky little bumps DO resolve eventually - seeming to pop up in a different place overnight. I did not want to massage or rub for two months due to my age (67) and I did not want to stretch the lids. You already look terrific. I am at 8 1/5 weeks and my scars are not even visible.

Wow, thank you! That's incredibly reassuring :)

Hi, you look great! Where did you buy the scar away ointment?

Hi, you look great and seemed to have much less bruising than I had after mine. I had Ptsos repair and blephs on both eyes towards the end of May. My results also left me with one eye alot 'bigger, wider opened' than the other. Something occurred during the procedure causing the surgeon to say 'uh oh' then take out sutures on my right eye, do something, then sew it back up. This is the eye that is bigger and the incision looks funny. My surgeon said he couldn't make the bigger eye smaller but he could make the smaller eye bigger by doing a ptsos repair by Fasanella Servat. He said it'd be a quick 15min procedure done under local in his office, and would be no cost to me. I thought I'd share this with you in case you wanted to look into it. Thanks for sharing your story.

My eyelids aren't perfect but then they weren't perfect before either! I see a few of the tiny imperfections that some of the others who post here point out as problematic. I don't see them as a problem though. My eyes look so much better now. I can even see better now! No one who cares about me was ever bothered by my sagging eyelids before surgery so there sure aren't going to notice a small indent or bump in the skin that may be there now.

I have no regrets. I think Dr. Johl was an excellent surgeon and he's made a big improvement in my life. I think people who fall apart over less than perfect results should probably not have ever had surgery in the first place. We're imperfect beings in every way. Perfection is a fantasy that can only be achieved in Photoshop.

You look great!  Seeking perfection is a great way to become disappointed, I'm glad you recognize that perfection is over-rated!  Plus the little bumps may still fade over time :)
