3 months out and I'm still pleased.

My eyelids aren't perfect but then they weren't perfect before either! I see a few of the tiny imperfections that some of the others who post here point out as problematic. I don't see them as a problem though. My eyes look so much better now. I can even see better now! No one who cares about me was ever bothered by my sagging eyelids before surgery so there sure aren't going to notice a small indent or bump in the skin that may be there now.

I have no regrets. I think Dr. Johl was an excellent surgeon and he's made a big improvement in my life. I think people who fall apart over less than perfect results should probably not have ever had surgery in the first place. We're imperfect beings in every way. Perfection is a fantasy that can only be achieved in Photoshop.

Mostly smooth sailing... with just a few bumps in the road.

Things are progressing well I think. I'm hoping that the bumpy suture line will even out. It's pretty bumpy in some spots. I've started rubbing the bumps with a little bit of pressure to help break down the scar tissue. I've also started applying Scar Away ointment on my eyelids just before I go to bed. I'm a little worried about it but I won't panic just yet. If they don't begin to change I'll call Dr. Johl and let him have a look.

After reading so many stories of heartbreak and...

After reading so many stories of heartbreak and disappointment I was more than a little nervous to undergo an upper Bleph procedure. After all, you can't put skin back once it's removed. But my upper eyelids were interfering with my peripheral vision so I had to do something.

Dr. Johl is the Ocular Plastics Surgeon provided by my HMO so I was also nervous about that. When it comes to this sort of thing it seems prudent to select someone by reputation more than availability. But I found a couple of reviews on Dr. Johl on this site and they did much to comfort me and give me confidence.

After only 2 weeks I am already singing his praises because of the wonderful work he did on me! I'm shocked at how far I've come in such a short time. I know it will take several months before I'll see the final result and I will update accordingly, but if the early progress is an indication I can tell you than I'll be more than happy with this surgery. If I decide to go ahead with the forehead lift Dr. Johl recommended, I'll for certain sure schedule the surgery with him and no one else!

I've attached a few photos so you can see the before, one week after and this past weekend. I think the reason for the quick recovery is because I was careful to follow all the Dr's instructions. I slept on my back with my head elevated and used a horseshoe travel pillow to keep my head still (still doing this), I was persistent with the ice for 3 full days, I did the hot compress for another 4 days and most of all, I got a LOT of rest.

Dr. Johl is very professional. He takes what he does very seriously. He is full of caution and makes the decision about how to proceed with surgery based on expectations and the realistic outcomes. He's quite somber really. I would never call him an exuberant cheerleader LOL. He was too busy watching for signs that I might not be a good candidate for surgery. The day of the surgery he was completely confident and moved with precision and delicacy. He instilled confidence in me and did as much as possible to keep me relaxed. His assistant was a dream. She was matter of fact, but gentle and kind. She and Dr. Johl have a playlist for any taste and play whatever your favorite music is during the procedure. Mine is Christian music and I was delighted to find she had several Christian playlists too. The music was a wonderful calming distraction.
