I Wish I Hadn't Done the Laser Genesis Treatment

Just after I turned 29 I started to freak about the idea of aging. Nothing about my face was aging but I obsessed over when it would. After both my sons were born I noticed a few sun spots. I wanted a more even skin tone. I went to the doctor to ask about microdermabrasion and how to get ride of the spots. They told me about laser genesis and how it would get rid of my spots and make my face a nice bright creamy color all over, it would also act as a preventative for wrinkles in the future. I had a fear of messing too much with my face.. and Lasers Genesis seemed a bit too drastic. I was worried that once I stopped the treatments that I would end up looking older. The doctor kind of laughed at that. He assured me that was not possible. I read reviews, all positive. I looked 18 still but for some stupid vain reason I went ahead and did the treatments along with the microdermabrasion. I saw no changes after the first two, he said wait until the next one, I will see it then. It takes time. After the 3rd my skin did look very clear and still as youthful as when I went in. He said I needed to do at least 6 and since it seemed to be working I kept going. After the end of the 5 weeks before my 5 treatment I thought my face sagged a little and cheeks looked less full, skin seemed less firm. I mentioned that to the doctor, his response was because now I'm looking too close and that Laser was not aging me. I did my next treatments. I saw immediate and drastic improvement in firmness, fullness and glow after 5 and 6.
It has been 5 months since my last treatment. My cheeks have lost a lot of fullness, my pores are enlarged, sun spots still there. My skin sags more than before.. the skin all over my face has lost firmness. I now have little fine lines where there was none. My face is still youthful but not as it was before the treatments. My doctor still says it's not possible that the laser caused me to age. He told me something else is causing this sudden change to my face. All I know is that prior to the treatments I did not have these issues and now I do. I look back a pictures and the difference is clear, it makes me sad. I am worried that it's not done either. That in time I will see more negative effects. I have an appointment with a different doctor to talk about what I do now.

Oh no, sorry that your experience with Laser Genesis has not been positive and that you are worried about future issues. I am glad you are consulting with another doctor to see what your options are. I found another member on the site who had damage from this laser and she was able to turn things around, here is her review:
JUVEDERM VOLUMA AFTER LASER DAMAGE - BALTIMORE, MD
Keep us posted on your progress, best of luck - my fingers are crossed for you!
You might want to consider a combination of Laser Genesis, Limelight and Titan lasers, performed at regular intervals. Six sessions --- augmented with professional-level cosmeceutical face creams --- are typically very successful and should address all of your concerns. You might also eventually wish to consult an experienced cosmetic physician about a "liquid face lift" regarding your perceived loss of volume. I have been a sun worshipper since about age 15. I had a fantastic result with my treatments and I would highly recommend the combination of these 3 lasers.
It is not your imagination. I had a non-ablative laser as well and I lost volume to me cheeks and under my eyes. My skin it's lost its firmness as well. The company non-ablative laser states that the laser does not go deep into the fat layer but the heat can stay in the tissue and potentially cause collateral damage and melt the fat causing lost volume. Also in areas where the dermis is thinner, i.e. around the eyes, the fat may be lost as well. You may want to try fillers for correction.
This is exactly what happened to me...LOSS of fullness and firmness. Aged me 10 years! DO NOT DO IT!!!
